I stared at my boyfriend, holding what could only be a wand.

"Like, Hocus Pocus, Gingerbread house, potion brewing witches," I asked incredulously

"Potion brewing yes, but that's about all we do," Bryce explained.

"Magic's real?" I asked.

"Yep." He responded popping the P.

"Cool," I responded

"Cool?" He repeated

I shrugged "Yeah, That's cool, Magic's cool"

Bryce looked me over, "Right, I should have figured that wouldn't phase you."

"You're gosh darn right that wouldn't phase me."

Bryce shook his head "So I worried over nothing."

I looked at him, "You worried about me?"

He nodded "I didn't know how to tell you." He explained. "Truthfully, since we're together, you will have to meet my parents."

"So, both your parents are witches?" I asked.

"Yep, Mom's not as strong as Dad, Dad's from a line that has more power, and eventually I have to take over for Dad."

"Oh." I stated, I stared at the lake, "Does Jason know?"

"Jason's in my coven too." He admitted slowly. "Their parents have been friends with mine for years." He paused, "They couldn't conceive though, so when they got the chance, they adopted."

"Damn, that must have been rough for them." Thinking about Jason.

"Nah, they have been weirdly accepting of the whole thing." He laughed, "Remember the story I told you about the drink."

I laughed, "Yeah."

"That was us practicing mixing magic potions, Jason can't physically perform magic but I wanted to show them what it's like."

I leaned onto Bryce's shoulder, "Really, You're a good friend then." He ran his fingers through my hair.

"Thanks" He muttered. We sat in silence for a while. Eventually, a buzzing from my phone interrupted us.

I took out my phone and pulled away. "It's late, I have to go," I said standing up.

Bryce nodded, "Right, thank you for listening."

I nodded in reply, "No problem."

I headed for my car. I turned and waved back at Bryce, before driving away.

A week later, I stared hard at my laptop. I was checking to see if anyone bought anything on my registry when I saw one from Ideal Life. The Magazine company that I applied to. "Already?" I asked.

I clicked on the email and read it through. "...I got the job" I whispered. "I GOT THE JOB!" I shouted. I smiled largely because I had a job, a real job. I started tomorrow.

Peanut looked up from where he lied and Almond and Chestnut rattled their cage, "Boys I got the job!" I fished out my phone, "I have to let my parents know!" I got the job. I got the job. "I can't believe they liked me enough," I replied as I finished out a text. I opened up a new tab and googled the magazine, I had to know what the magazine reported on.
