A Path To Acceptance

After getting Delilah's approval to adopting the shape shifting, reality twisting five year old, Didier leaves the mall after bidding his sister goodbye. Didier is walking out of the mall walking through the parking lot. It gets late so Didier takes Flaky back to the tree house.

It's morning now and Kai goes to wake Flaky up for the day. Kai walks into Flaky's room, goes to his bed and calls Flaky's name a few times. Flaky gets up and turns around seeing Edmond by his bedside. "Kai!" Flaky cheers getting up on his bed a flying into Edmond. Edmond twirls as he catches Flaky. Edmond smiles sweetly as he holds Flaky away from his body, arms fully extended in front of him. "Hey, Flaky! What's good with you, buddy! You sleep good, buddy!" Edmond asked. "Mmhmm!" Flaky hummed. "Great, I already have breakfast on the table, we got some stuff to do today but it's finna be lit, you feel?" Edmond said. Flaky playfully and energetically nodded his head. "Good shiz, man. Good shiz." Edmond said as he put Flaky down on his feet, grabbed his hand and walked him to the table. The two of them entered the dining area and Flaky's eyes lit up with black and gray rainbows and stars. There were a bunch of plates with all kinds of foods. Eggs, Bacon, sausage, grits, all sorts of muffins, donuts, pancakes, veggies, fruits etc. Flaky walked to the table and sat down. Edmond did the same, and shortly after George, William, and Didier came through and sat at the table too. They all started eating their food and a few minutes in, Flaky looks up and realizes Richard isn't at the table. "Kade, where's Mira? Why is he not here eating with us?" Lord Xero asked. "Don't worry, Flaky. Mira is just talking things out with his other friend Zee about something that happened last night. So he might not, have breakfast with us today but he's fine." Kade said. "Okay." Xero said. Everyone continued to eat there food. Flaky ate the most out of everyone as he has no organs on his inside so he never feels full because of his body composition. "Woah, little man! You must've been hungry than an employer!" George said. Flaky burped into his elbow. But there was so much power behind it that it nearly caused the house to fall off the tree and it sounded like the animalistic roar of a monster. It was quiet for a split moment between the five of them. The four teenagers present bursted out laughing at how whack this whole thing was. "Bro that was awesome!" Didier said. "I ain't never heard a sound like that before!" William said. "Was that Flaky?!" Richard said to his friends telepathically while laughing. "Uh-huh." Edmond said. Everyone eventually stopped laughing and got up from their seats. Everyone went into the bathroom to brush their teeth and wash their faces. George stayed behind to help Xero do his hygiene. After that, the five of them went back into their rooms to get dressed. George came out dressed in a light gray short sleeved hoodie shirt, black jean pants, black button up leather jacket, and black woven running shoes. George flew outside the house, onto the front lawn.

William came out in a long sleeved gray shirt, black basket ball shorts with compression tights underneath, and red hoodie around his waist, with red sneakers. Edmond came in some red sneakers with buckles on them, black and white fingerless gloves, a horizontally striped red and white scarf with a golden ring at the end of it with fluff made to look like a bird wing, white sweatpants, and red t-shirt with a zipper along the chest. And Terry came out with black T-shirt under a red and white leather jacket, with black jeans, wearing a belt with a gold ring, and red and white sneakers with gold buckles. And Xero was dressed in blue overalls, a red shirt with white horizontal stripes, a red cap, and some timbs. One by one the rest of them jump from the front porch of the tree house. "Y'all ready?" George asked. Everyone nodded their heads. "Let's go, then." George said. All of them began walking towards the exit of the forest. The few of them walked out of the forest and into the city. It's morning but the sky would indicate otherwise as it's still dark and most people are still asleep at this hour. Xero being the curious child he is, looked up at the sky and seeing no sun but the sky still blue and a blue sky that still has stars and is wondering what's going on. "Terry? How is the sky blue but it's night time with stars, but there's no moon or sun?" Xero asked. "Well, Xero it's kinda hard to explain. But let's put it this way. The reason why the world looks like this right now is because the sun is out in fact. You just can't see it at this very moment, the moon is also out but yet again you still can't see it. The sky only looks like this when the moon and sun are out at the same time but are positioned behind the horizon line. The sky has 3 different phases when it looks like this, this is the first phase, Civil Twilght." Terry explained. Xero nodded slowly as he listened to what Terry was explaining to him. "Do you understand?" Terry asked. "Yea!" Xero said. "Cool." Terry said. The group all walked down the street and in the distance someone was walking towards them. The darkness around the person faded revealing Richard wearing a white and royal blue horizontally striped jacket hoodie with zipper pockets, blue jeans shorts, royal blue and white colored shoes. Xero at the sight of his friend ran in front of everyone else and hugged Richard. "Hi Mira!" Xero exclaimed while running towards Richard. "Hey, little buddy! What's going on?" Richard asked. "I learn the sky is twilight right now!" Xero said taking a step back out of the hug and bouncing a little. "Aye that's what's really good then!" Richard said holding his hand downwards in front of him. Xero low-fived Richards hand. Richard laughed as he stood back up straight. "So where were you earlier?" George asked. "I was at Zee's place. I was laying down with her and helped her go to sleep. But I got sick because I ate some chili's with her. So when she dozed off, I went to the bathroom. But I guess the bathroom light shined on her and she woke up, came to the bathroom and saw me throwing up. And for the past couple of hours I was just talking to her about what happened. She said she was going to schedule me a doctors appointment." Richard said. "Oh, so someone else finally found out?" William asked. "Well not exactly. She doesn't know why it happened like this, but she knows that something's up regardless. The doctors visit is in a few days from today." Richard said. "Dr. Jason Brownbear Jr.?" Didier asked. Richard nodded. While hearing this, Xero was getting worried for Richard. "But hey we don't have to worry about that right now. We came out here tonight to occupy ourselves. So let's get on with it." Richard said. And with that, the group began walking down the sidewalk. Richard picked Xero up and placed him on his own shoulders. The group as they were walking came across the park that George and Zuzy temporarily paused at during their date. Xero looked at the park and saw that the park was equipped with a large play ground. Xero's eyes shined little grey stars at the sight. "Mira! Mira!" Xero called. "What's up little buddy?" Richard said. "Can we go play?!" Xero asked excitedly. "Sure thing!" Richard said. On a dime Richard blasted towards the playground with Xero still on his shoulders. "So which one do you want to do first?" Richard asked, taking Xero off his shoulders and onto the wood-chipped terrain. Xero was quiet as he looked at the abundance of activities the playgrounds had to offer. There was slides, swings, round a outs, seesaws, monkey bars, small rock climbing wall, tunnels, etc. "I want to play on the swings!" Xero said. "Then let's play on the swings!" Richard said. Everybody watched as Xero ran to a seat on one of the swings. Xero crawled onto the swing seat and turned around to sit down. Xero has seen other kids get momentum on the swings by themselves and tried to copy what they do. But it wasn't working, Xero kept at it for a few tens of seconds more but he still didn't go anywhere. "Help, please?" Xero said. George ran up to the swing set and leaped into the air, flipping upside down and locked his around the large metal bar that holds the swings up. "What's up, bruh?" George said. "I can't swing. Will you help me?" Xero said. "Of course." George said. George swung back and forth on the metal bar and back flipped off of it while moving forward, behind Xero. George walked behind Xero and held up his hand to the back Xero's back. "Hold on, little buddy!" George said as he flicked his hand through the air as a sudden strong gust of wind pushed Xero forward. Xero laughed as he started moving really fast and began swinging back and forth. The rest of them walked up to the swing set. William, George, and Didier all took a seat on other swings while Richard and Edmond both leaned on the side of the swing set. It was peaceful. Richard pulled out his phone and was about to look at some memes online. But after a few minutes of looking at memes. The ground suddenly started shaking. Everyone besides Flaky took notice of it. It kept going for awhile until stuff started flying around the park. Like wood chips would float from the ground then fly of in random directions. Then the ground started shaking harder. "Uhh, maybe we should try and figure out what that is." George said. Soon after he said that Xero stopped swinging. Didier looked at Xero and got worried as Xero looked like he didn't feel well. He looked scared and sad, and almost reluctantly accepting of something, as if something was about to happen. "Flaky, are you ok?" Didier asked. Xero said nothing for a bit. "No, it's happening again... Mira, Kade, Terry, Ozzy, Kai, you need to run!" Xero said. "What?! Why!?" The five asked. Suddenly the ground tarted shaking even harder. Trees round the park lost their leafs and branches. Everyone looked back at Xero in shock to see Xero vigorously vibrating and shaking his head from side to side. Xero's eyes changed from his yellow-ish zero looking eyes to his sclera's turning pitch black and the Zero's in Xero's eyes glowing a fierce white while his eye color itself changed to a glowing crimson. In a split second the whole world was plagued by a darkness so pitch that everyone on earth was basically blind except for the five of the teenagers, Xero himself, and two of Xero's friends who have been anonymous until now. Screams can be heard all at once as if everyone on in the universe were all joining into one chorus. But then it went blank silent. "What the what?..." Richard, George, William, Didier, and Edmond said.
