Lyla's POV

I'm nervous about telling Peter what I did. He seemed so happy, is there a chance I might be ruining that by saying he took the offer?

"So Ly, I want to ask you something." He took me to the ice cream shop after practice. I got a chocolate sundae, extra whipped cream!

"What's up?"

"Would you like to go hunting with me and my dad this weekend?" I'm kind of shocked at the question. I love to hunt, my uncle bought me my first gun. And he's been taking me ever since.

"You hunt?"

"Sure do. So you want to come?"

"Yeah, sounds like fun. Look Peter that's something I need to tell you..." he looks at me with his dark brown eyes. I daze for a minute then come back down to earth. "Next semester, you'll be attending Frederick High. I called the principal there and told him you had accepted."

"What?"

"I felt bad. And I couldn't just watch you not accept. I'm sorry."

"It's ok. You did what you thought was right. Thanks for caring." he loooks at his phone and stands up, dropping some money on the table. "I have to go, I'll call you. Bye." I give a slight wave, then walk out after him. We'll be from different worlds next semester, will we be able to make it without each other? Now I regret my decision to "help". It made matters worse...

Peter's POV

I should've known Lyla would do that. I can't be mad at her though, she didn't want me to pass this up. I can hear my phone ringing under my pillow. I see Lyla's face on the screen.

"Hey."

"Hey. So when do you go to Frederick High?"

"Actually, soon. Two weeks." I feel like just screaming.

"Oh my gosh! I'm really sorry Peter, I shouldn't have done anything. It wasn't my buisness."

"It's ok Ly. I promise." It's not ok though. I'm worried, we might have to break up. "I'm still taking you hunting!"

"Hah, ok." The worst part about leaving in two weeks, we go on Spring Break next week. So time will pass quicker. I don't know what to do.

The weekend goes by faster than expected. After class I have to take my uniform back to the Athletics Director.

"Ah Peter. I've been thinking, and the school is allowing you to keep your uniform to remind you that you were the first sophmore on the varsity baseball team. It's yours if you want it."

"Gosh, thanks!"

"No problem. I expect we'll be playing you. So I'll see you then." I nod and walk out. I walk out to the courtyard.

"Hey, Peter!" She comes up behind me.

"Hey you!" I kiss her and smile. "I wish I could stay here with you forever."

"Same." I put my arm around her and walk to the parking lot. Something's been on my mind, but I think I'll just drop it.

"I have to go, bye. I'll call you."

"Bye Bub. Oh yeah I'm calling you Bub now!" I laugh a little and she softly kisses my cheek. I get in my truck and drive home. I wish time would slow down. I don't want to leave her, not yet, not now.
