The sound of the waterfall was relaxing if you were standing by and looking at it. But it is not so much when you've been sitting under it, with the hard streaks of water coming down on your head and shoulder like bricks.

Almost two hours. For almost two hours, the two boys have been sitting under it as a command from their teacher. After they had kicked Tanjiro off the edge the siblings and Urokadi had been standing on, Taiyo found it for the best to just walk down and get in the water from there. Sure, technically Urokodaki couldn't teach Taiyo anything anymore, but that doesn't mean he gets to skip out on things the older man thinks are important to have experienced and been through quite literally.

After passing out in the dirt by his training temple, and ultimately falling asleep upon regaining consciousness, Urokadi dragged him back to the house at the bottom of the mountain and had forced Taiyo to take a few days off to come to by his brother. It was certainly not the first time Taiyo had overworked himself to the point of it, making him gain a fever, or in the lesser cases, pass out for a few minutes.

Now, he was training and accompanying his brother in his training. Thus explaining why he was sitting under a waterfall in order to 'become one with the water Taiyo had every form of water breathing under control now after close to 8 months of training with their teacher and on his own, so technically this wasn't as difficult for him as it was for his younger brother that was currently screaming his lungs out.

-

at the beginning of Nezuko's coma, Urokodaki had a doctor come by and examine her. much to their relief and confusion, he said there was nothing wrong that he could find. the brothers were extremely worried for their sister, each not wanting to wake up one day and find out that she had died.

unconsciously the two made a sort of routine, where every day one of them would watch over her. most of the time they were holding her hand or having their hand over her heart to make sure the girl had a pulse.

each time one of the boys was doing some form of their training on their own Urokodaki would watch over her until he had to go back to teaching.

-

as time went on and the 8-month mark finally arrived, meant that Taiyo would be leaving for final selection in a little less than a week.

this made everybody a little nervous.

of course, the teacher and younger student knew of his capabilities and had hopes of him passing it with a minimum amount of cuts and bruises. but still, the negative thoughts flooded their minds like a tsunami. their teacher had originally not wanted any of them to go off to final selection in fear of losing any more students of him to one peculiar demon, but Taiyo had read about it in one of Urokodaki's journals and wanted to go as soon as possible. the reason was he wanted to find the one who caused him so much grief as soon as possible, and preferably before his younger brother or sister did.

he knew he was going to eventually leave his brother for missions alone before they hopefully could go on missions together. meaning that Tanjiro was most likely to not see his elder brother as much once the older boy had received his own sword and kasugai crow.

but alas time went on and before any of them really realized it, Taiyo was standing before the two. he had his own Cloud haori on and his very own kitsune mask that Urokodaki had carved in his hands. the face of the kitsune caused a bit of confusion in Taiyo's point of view, with its mouth in a position where you wouldn't know if it was smiling or frowning with little dark maroon coloured little suns in its corners, the eyes were closed as if they were having a pleasant rest the ends looking like that of dancing flames, despite all these mentioned things having something to do with the colour red and fire, there were swirls that looked like the uncontrollable waves of the ocean were drawn over the right eye and a part between the left eye and mouth corner.

He looked up at Urokodaki with a confused face before the now sobbing boy cut through the forming tension as he charged at Taiyo and clung to him like a koala. being caught off guard by the impact Taiyo quickly regained his footing and hugged Tanjiro back.

'I'll ask later' he thought as he send Urokodaki a quick glance. He knew of the warding mask as he had read up on it a few months back, yet he did not see the reason behind such a complex design.

"Please! come back safely!" Tanjiro practically yelled in his older brother's ear.

deciding it was best not to make a promise, Taiyo just wrapped his arms tighter around his baby brother and buried his face into his neck. Taiyo was tearing up and a few drops esaped his resistance but that was it, a few drops nothing more. A few tears to show how terrified he actually was.

Dressed with a little pouch in his cloud haori, contained with little bits of food, a balm for possible wounds, and a few bandages, and let's not forget the blue practice blade that urukodaki had lent him until he got his own.

(how i invisioned the kitsune mask, my own drawing so credit to me)
