Chapter 1

New Arrival

I wait at the gate for Brandon to return with the new kid. I wonder if I am going to gain a cabin mate. The only other child of Poseidon I really know is Brandon Kingsley (my brother). We are like two peas in a pod.

"Krissy!" I hear a voice from behind.  I turn to see Chiron. He puts a hand on my shoulder. "He will return soon. There is no need to worry." Even though his words were comforting, I was still nervous for him. He was the closest thing I had to family. If he dies I will be alone again.

"Come," Chiron ushers me away from the gate. I glance back and see nothing. I sigh. "Help!" I hear a girl shriek. I turn and run out of the protection of camp.

There is a girl with fiery red hair. She was wearing a blue dress the cut off before the knee and a pair of what looked to be as six inch heels. A  fury closed in. Clearly the girl was about to be ripped to shreds.

"AAAAHHHH!" I swung my sword hard. The fury swung it's claws towards me. It missed. I slashed at the fury hitting it's neck. The head rolled off and towards the girl, who was obviously traumatised with all this madness. The fury melted to dust.

"Come on." I gesture for her to follow me into camp. "What about Brandon?" She asks nervously. BRANDON! I had become so involved in the fight, I had totally forgotten him.

"BRANDON?! BRANDON?!" I yell. Then I hear his voice not to far away.  "Krissy!" I sprint towards the voice. "Brandon?" I look around. "Over here." There is pain in his voice. I whip around to see him hunched against a tree. "Are you okay?" I run to him. "I'm fine.  It's just a scratch. I need to know if Autumn is safe."

Autumn.  So that was her name. There is no doubt that my brother has feelings for her. Strong feelings. "Yeah she is fine, just traumatised." He nods. I then add. "Let's get back to Camp. You need nectar."

We trudge slowly back to Camp. With every step I could see that he was in a lot of pain. "Do we need to rest? " I ask. He shakes his head. "No, I am totally fine."

Finally after what feels like hours, the gate comes in view. I help Brandon go faster. We walk straight to the healer's tent. "Hey Bill!" I say to the healer in charge. "Hey Krissy. What's up?" I get to the point quickly. "Brandon needs some nectar. He is hurt pretty badly."

"That should be no problem." He says after inspecting the deep cut. In a flash he is right back with the a little cup filled slightly more than half way with an orangey pink liquid.

"Cheers!" Brandon says as he downs the nectar in one gulp. "Are you feeling better?" I ask. He nods."I think I can do stuff now." Brandon starts to get up. "Whoa buddy!" Bill sits him right back down. "You can't just expect to get up and leave. You need just a little longer to heal completely. You should be out by dinnertime."

I sigh. "Well, I'd better go find that new girl." I walk out. Bill follows me. "Hey, um, Krissy. Do you have plans for after dinner?" I was disgusted. Of course I had plans! Plans to stay away from him! "Yeah I'm kind of busy tonight." I respond politely, even though I wanted to punch him in the jaw and say 'Get lost weirdo!'

I left quickly without another word. I was not the type of girl to be hit on! He was obviously disappointed that I had refused. Even though I did it in a nice way. Go to find Chiron and Autumn.

I walk down to the lake. Sure enough, Chiron was giving Autumn a tour. "Chiron!" I called. "Krissy, can you finish Autumn's tour? I have some important business I need to attend to." I nod. "Okay." Chiron turns and leaves.

"Let's see. What haven't you seen yet?" She shrugs. "I really don't know."  Dang. This just got a whole lot harder. "Have you seen the campfire? That is where we eat." She shakes her head. "Alrighty then." I say.

We turn to go.  The silence is so awkward. I was so much more comfortable when I tripped and fell into a homeless man's pile of trash. "So, have you been claimed yet?" Why is it so hard to talk to her? "Claimed?" She asked. "Oh, apparently not. Who do you think your godly parent is?"

Just then, magic sparkles came and surrounded Autumn. She was now dressed in a long, dark blue dress. It has half sleeves made of lace. There is a slit that came up just past her knee. Her hair is pulled up into an elegant twist. Her makeup is done just to fit her. 'Oh dear!' I think. She is a daughter of Aphrodite.

"Wow." She says. "Ummm, what does this mean, exactly?" She really doesn't know anything. "It means that you have been claimed by your godly parent." She bites her lip. "Okay, what is this?!" "It is your gift. From your parent." I pause. "You're a daughter of Aphrodite. She is the goddess of love and beauty." She curses several times.

"Okay then. Do you want to meet your cabin mates?" I ask. "Yes please." She replies. "Are they nice?" I tilt my head. "Some are, but a lot are just plain snobs." "Oh." She says plainly.

I lead her to Aphrodite's cabin. I hesitate to knock, but I do. Vivian, the leader of the cabin opens the door. "Hey. What do you want?" She asks. "I have a new comer for you." I gesture at Autumn. "Do come in." She says in a syrupy voice. "What's your name darling?" She asks as she leads Autumn in. She slams the door in my face.

'Okay, be that way.' I say to myself. I deside to go to my cabin. I just love how I wasn't confined. The breeze is my favourite, It always carries the smell of the sea. I walk for a time to get to my favorite spot by the lake. The view is breathtaking, I plan to watch the sunset with Brandon tomorrow evening.

When I get to the spot I see someone move. Autumn jumps up, frightened. "What are you doing?!" I yell. She jumps. "I just had to get away from that girl! She is a total monster!" I nod in agreement. "Tell me about it." I say sarcastically.

She sits up. "After I managed to get away, this was the first accessible place I saw. So I came here. Is this place yours or something?" I sit down next to her. "Technically no, but I am the only one who comes here and my brother. Don't you just love it!?" "Love it?! This is to die for!" She exclaims. "I really wish that this was closer to my cabin!"

"I have a feeling that you'll be visiting this place a lot. Brandon is here almost every evening." I say. "Brandon is my brother you know." She seemed to be in shock. "Really?" She asks excitedly. She fingers at the dress Aphrodite gave her.

"Do you think that I can come back tonight?" She asks. "I think Brandon will be fine with it." She smiles. "Thank You! Oh, thank you!" Then she leaves after giving me a hug. What a weird chick!
