They walked slowly. The crisp air felt refreshing.

Audrey closed her eyes.

"Feels like Christmas."

Jake took her hand and immediately began to run.

"Why are we running?" she asked, but Jake couldn't seem to hear her.

"Where are we going?"

"I don't know." Jake was dragging her like a child

It was a long walk to get to the other side where the sea could be viewed from the fifth story, which was connected to the other building.

Audrey was recovering her breath when Jake came to a stop close to the intersection.

Jake pulled her and gave her another hug.

"Are you going to do this the whole night?" Audrey asked.

"You're confusing me,"

"Can I hug you the whole night?" Jake asked

Please say yes.

Silence.

Audrey felt his warmth once again. This time, she doesn't want him to let go.

"Did you ever love me?" Jake asked.

Audrey pretended not to hear.

She always did, but she was never honest with herself about it.

"I..."

"No, don't answer me, please." Jake cut her off.

I'd rather not know.

"Just let me stay this way for another 5 minutes," he said.

Audrey kept her silence.

She won't refuse... She's not letting go either. She never expected that his chest would feel like the safest place on earth.

"Audrey?" A male voice from behind.

She looked at where it was coming from. Jake loosened up a bit.

"Gary..." She said

It was an awkward moment.

"I'm sorry to bother you." Gary looked at both of them, smiling.

"I was about to light my cigarette when I saw you."

"Hi, I'm Gary." He reached out to Jake's hand.

"My name is Jake," he said as he shook his hand.

Gary said to Audrey, "I never knew you had a boyfriend." He sounded like he was teasing

"He's my ex now." She smirked.

Jake's heart ached with that statement.

She pulled Jake away and said to Gary,

"Shut your mouth or I'll tell your wife about your hidden savings!"

They started to run away.

They went down the emergency exit. Jake stopped her just before they reached the first floor.

"Who is he?" He asked

"We used to be neighbors. Now he works in the same building.

Did he ever court you? Is he bothering you? " He sounded jealous.

"He's not my type, so I avoid him all the time," she said casually.

He's craving for more answers. Why does it feels like their conversation was not enough?

"What are we now, Aud? Tell me." Jake asked.

Audrey was taken aback,

"We?" She wondered why such a question was being asked.

"Jake, what answer do you want to hear from me?" She felt so confused, her mind spinning like crazy since she met him an hour ago.

Jake was silent.

"You finally showed up after a long time and now you're acting like this? This is not right, Jake!"

As if those words weren't hurting her at all.

"I want you." He blurted

"No, you're not. You're just confused. " Audrey said

"So the kiss means nothing?" Jake asked.

Audrey took a deep breath.

"Am I nothing to you?" Jake asked.

"They're waiting for us." Audrey avoided the question and walked away.

And Jake is not sure if he wants to hear the answer to that.
