Chapter 6

*Riki*

Sometimes it is easier to run from your problems in the face them head on.

'I am so-' the doctor started though I didn't let him.

'You're a liar. A Goddamn motherfucking stupid ass liar' I yell not caring that people are staring because no way in hell was this man gonna tell me my brothe-

'Riki' my mom say in a low tight voice.

I look at her and see that she's crying.

'What? Are you seriously buying all this?'

'I have to Riki. He's the doctor he knows more than we do-'

'Bullshit' I snap.

'And besides' she continues like I didn't interrupt her. 'he's seen the bod-'

'Body?? Is that really all Ta-ki is to you now?'

She looked hurt. 'no of course not

' This man' I say pointing at the doctor 'comes out here and tells us that Ta-ki- your son my brother did not make it without letting us see them and you're listening to him?'

She looks down. 'yes Riki I have no other choice.'

'Fine. Then how about this doctor goes back in there and saves my brother' I say basically getting in his face.

My mother grabs my arms and pull me back no matter how hard I tried to fight her off.

The doctor backs so far away that I'm surprised we can even still see each other.

I jerk to get free

'not until you stop' my mom forces.

' Ugh. Fine. FINE. I'm done' I said throwing my head back.

She let's go.

And instead of trying to go after the doctor again I turn on her. I jerk in her direction dropping my head to look at her. She looks so broken.

'He's gone and I think it's time you accept that fact. You knew just as well as I did that it was going to happen.'

I snort 'You know what your problem is. Your a quitter. You gave up on him long before he ever gave up on himself. But me? I didn't. I always believed. I kept telling him that everything was going to be all right. But all he did was listen to you. He gave up because you gave up but all I was was a boy knew new nothing. It's all your fault.' I said gravely.

When I noticed hurt and sadness in her eyes I instantly regretted it all but I can't take it back now so I-

'Riki' she sounded crushed.

So instead I slowly backed away from her putting my hands up in surrender.

I slowly leave the building. And once I'm out the door I run and I don't stop until I get to my house.

I grab a suitcase and start packing my bag, stuffing clothes in. And for the first time I finally feel tears in my eyes.

He's gone. He's gone.

I cry harder.

When I am done packing I'll grab a cab that takes me to the airport, that takes me to Korea and takes me to Hueningkai.

And gets me as far away from her and him as possible. That gets me as far away from the pain as possible.
