I wake to light snoring. I roll over to find a naked boy next to to him though I can't to recall his name.

I roll back over and reach for my phone on the bed side table. I turn it on.

8:45am Aug 14

Well damn.

I am now 18 years old that anyone knows or cares to know.

I quickly get up and throw my clothes on and leave.

R: ay yo wassup fuck boy. Gotten laid yet?

I smile.
H:um, actually as a matter of fact I did. Last night

He laughs. Then grows serious.

R: Happy Birthday. I wish I could be there. I miss you so damned much it hurts. I'll kill you if you ever tell anyone I said that.

I laugh.
H: don't worry, baby my lips are sealed... and thanks. I miss you to. When can you come back?

Pause.

R:um... Next week?
H: that works with me.
R: Good. See you then. Have cake for me okay?
H: always

He laughs.

I laugh to myself and start the long walk home.

-9:45am-

I first thing I noticed when I walk through the door of my home is how dark and quiet it is.

It is never like this.

'hello? Anyone here?' I yoller.

Then suddenly everything was all white and I could see nothing.

When I finally gained my vision I saw everyone: mom, dad, sis, my aunts and uncles, my cousins, nieces and nephews, Gramps, all of them though I'm not sure I heard them come in.

'Happy Birthday' they all say.

My mother carried a cake when candles in it and told me to make a wish.

So I wished.

I wished that someone- anyone- could make me feel things and not just the good stuff.
