Chapter 2: maybe it will be different

A/N: helloooo again. So I know this was meant to be out ages ago but I kinda forgot. Oops. ANYWAY again I'm open to criticism as this is my first time writing. Now, onto the chapter!

(TW: mention of past violence, violence, bullying, swearing, panic attacks, mild homophobia)

Ranboo POV:

As I followed Tubbo to the crowd of people I felt myself start to panic. I was never good with big crowds or busy places so this was definitely worrying. Before I could think any more I was snapped out of my thoughts by Tubbo grabbing my hand. Although it was a small gesture it was enough to calm him down a bit.

"So boss man who's this?" The blonde asked looking up at me. "Well Tommy this is Ranboo. He lives near my street and is new here." Tubbo said, continuing in more of a whisper, "so for the love of god be nice." The blonde (Tommy?) just rolled his eyes at his friend and began talking to me. There where a few whispers in the crowd that I could just about pick up.
"Why the fuck is he so tall?"
"Why is Tom talking to him out of all people?"
"What's up with his eyes?"
It hurt slightly. Hearing everyone judge me again, but nonetheless Tommy (?) started talking to me.

"Hey big man. My names Tom but you can just call me Tommy."
"Oh um my names Ranboo. It's nice to meet you." I said slightly happy that he wasn't being judged by someone for once in my life. "You have some cool lookin eyes you know?" It caught me off guard. I had never been complimented for his eyes "there all glowy 'n shit. It's pog." I used to try and hide my eyes because of that. I thought they where weird and apparently everyone else did to. "I- thank you. I used to hate them because of that." I said, accepting the compliment. It was nice to talk about it to someone nice to me.

I felt my hand get squeezed and only then did I remember I was holding Tubbos hand. I looked around and not to my surprise people had noticed. there where a few more comments ruder than before.
"Omg why are they holding hands?"
"Are they gay or something? That's disgusting."
"Why is Tubbo with him?"
"Are they together? Ewww."

Noticing that obviously Tubbo was uncomfortable, I starting rubbing circles into Tubbos palm using his thumb. "Thank you" he whispered and all I could do in the moment was smile down at him. God why was I so awkward. A few minutes of conversation later and the 1st bell rang.

As we headed inside the crowd started to simmer out, a few people going to lockers near the trios. Tubbo and Tommy started talking as I walked next to them, voicing my opinion on what they had to say every now and then. Once we reached our lockers it was surprising to us that our lockers had all been next to each other's. "Well they told me I had a good locker this year but not this good." Tommy said excited about being next to his friends for the school year. Him and Tubbo high-fived before Tommy high-fived me too. It was new to me, having actual genuin friends for once. Maybe this school would be different.

Tommy closed his locker and groaned obviously annoyed by his 1st class of the day. "What is it?" Tubbo asked, as if this was normal for them (which it probably was). "I have double science 1st and 2nd period" Tommy complained obviously annoyed over the fact he had science. Tubbo just rolled his eyes at the blonde and looked at me. "This is normal. You'll get used to it." He said smirking at Tommy who just looked annoyed at his time-table.

A few minutes later Tubbo and Tommy had started walking to 1st period. I went to the washroom to check his phone, knowing we arnt aloud to use our phones in school hours. A few minutes later 2 boys walked into the room, a blonde boy roughly the same hight as me and a shorter brown haired boy. "Well well well what do we have here." The blonde said, looking me dead in the eyes making me extremely uncomfortable. "Looks like a new target." The brown haired boy hissed. The blonde grabbed me by the coller, not breaking eye contact the entire time. "Listen here freakshow as long as you're around Toby I'm going to make your life a living hell." I started to panic. My breathing speed increased quickly and I could hear my own heartbeat. Hearing those words terrified me. I wanted it to be different this time. I wanted it to be different from what he put me through. There was a moment of silence, the blonde waiting for him to respond, to defend myself, to fight back, to become a target.

After another minute the brown haired boy looked at the blonde. "Drop him dream. We don't have time for this shit." They shared a look and before Dream (?) dropped him the brown haired boy sighed. "Fine. Go for it." So, without a second thought he punched me in the stomach and dropped me, making me hit my head on a wall. I started crying and panicking a lot more.

I don't want to go through the same hell that my old school was again. To relive every moment of pain and suffering. I don't want to do that again. I don't want to-

I was snapped out of my thoughts by 2 voices yelling from behind. "OI BITCH BOY. LEAVE RANBOO THE FUCK ALONE."
"You can't threaten someone if your a pussy yourself."
It was Tubbo and Tommy. They cared. I had to remember that they cared. "Aw look at you." Dream said looking down at Tubbo. "Come to save your little boyfriend? That's cute." Tubbo gritted his teeth and looked at dream. "He's not- you know what forget it." He said looking down. "Tom go get techno" The comment about me being Tubbo's boyfriend took me back a bit. It obviously seemed like he had done this to Tubbo before and it made me
sick.

After a minute or 2 Tommy ran back in the bathroom with 2 other older boys. One had dark brown fluffy hair covered by a dark red beanie. The other had pink hair tied in a braid with different golden accessories. Tommy whispered something to Tubbo that I could just about hear over my own heartbeat. "I brought Wilbur for good measure"
"Leave them alone dream. Same goes for you George." The pink haired said in a monotone voice. Dream just rolled his eyes at him and whispered something to me through gritted teeth. "You're Lucky your little friends came to save you before anything bad could happen." It sent shivers up my spine but before he could react the 2 boys came rushing up to me.

"Are you ok? Did he do anything to you? Are you hurt anywhere? God I hate that green bastard." Tubbo was speaking quickly and incoherently. He was obviously worried and it seamed like dream had done this in the past. I couldn't speak. All I could do was shake my head. "Oh god can you say anything at the minute? What did he do to you." Tubbo was acctualy at my height now compared to any other time and had put a hand around my face. "He punched me in the s-stomach.." Tubbo helped me up and made sure that I was ok. "Here. Let's go to medical." He was walking out of the room with me by the time I realised what was happening. "You need any help Tubbo?" The brown haired said tapping him on the shoulder. "We'll be ok Wilbur. Don't worry." I was ok with the walking. It hurt slightly but it felt good to spend time with people who I knew I could trust. It felt safe. Safer than home.

Soon enough we arrived at medical and I sat down with Tubbo and waited for a teacher. "You sure you're ok? I don't want to leave you if you're still in pain." He was really concerned. Apparently Dream had done stuff like this before. "I'll be ok don't worry. Medical is here for a reason right?" Before saying anything Tubbo looked around and whispered into my ear. "Well there shit at there job. Be careful." It made me laugh a bit but I stopped because it hurt. The 2nd bell rang and Tubbo had to go. "I'll see you in a bit ok? Please be careful and tell me is dream dose any of that shit again."
"I will don't worry. See you soon."
And just like that. Tubbo disappeared into the hallway.

Little did the duo know, this was just the beginning...
