Never gets old

It never gets old to settle them down at night,

to read them a story that fills them with delight,

to hear their laughter with eyes shining bright.

It warms my heart to see such a joyous sight.

It never gets old to kiss them good night,

to watch how their adoring eyes close tight,

to see how their sweet dreams take flight,

that is my nightly gift, not my given right.

It never gets old to tuck them in tight,

to keep them warm through the night,

to know they are safe from monsters of fright,

knowing everything in our little heaven is alright.

It never gets old to say ' mommy loves you, sleep tight,'

to know tomorrow holds new adventures to write,

to know the dinosaur we smite will be back to fight,

that we can try yet again to take flight with the kite.

It never gets old to be a mom filled with love and delight.

On cloudy days, they are my beaming rays of light,

unaware that they are mommy's true knights,

lifting me up to new heights with the strength to fight.
