—Chapter Five—
Sour cherry yet sweet muffin.Y/N blinked, then burst out laughing. "You can't be serious."
"I am serious," he replied, trying to keep a straight face. "This is the best way to shut down the rumors. If we act like we're in a relationship, people will stop speculating."
"Okay, because pretending to date you sounds like a blast," she said, still chuckling. "What makes you think I'd even consider it?"
"Because it beats letting the media run wild and ruin both our lives, you will have to act to date me, don't worry it will all be just for the cameras," he shot back casually.
He uttered the words so casually, as if "date me" didn't carry any weight. Y/N continued to glare at him, her mind racing.
Who had he become?
Sure, he'd climbed the ladder to become the CEO of her agency, now recognized as one of the world's top billionaires. But was he still the Park Jimin she once knew?
Memories flooded her mind—the laughter, the tears, those moments of vulnerability they had shared. It felt like a lifetime ago. Now, standing before her was a man who seemed consumed by his own success, detached from the person he used to be.
She couldn't shake the feeling that this newfound power and wealth had changed him for the worse. Was he just another ambitious figure, willing to manipulate others for his own gain?
Y/N's gaze bore into him, searching for any hint of the Jimin she had once loved. She longed for a spark of familiarity, a sign that he still held the kindness and compassion that had drawn her to him in the first place.
As silence filled the room, Y/N waited for his response, hoping he would prove her doubts wrong. Maybe he would show her that the man she once believed in was still there, buried beneath the layers of ambition and success.
—The Past—
The 17-year-old girl strolled down the street, casually chewing her bubble gum, totally unfazed by the world around her.
Her carefree vibe hit a wall when she noticed a group of teenage boys huddled around someone. Raising an eyebrow, she veered in their direction, curiosity piqued.
"What do you think you're doing, losers?" she challenged, her voice dripping with authority and disdain.
The boys froze at her voice, confidence evaporating like mist. "Oh no, it's Y/N," one of them squeaked, panic clear on his face. Without wasting another second, they scattered, darting off in different directions as if they were running from a wildfire.
Left standing alone was the boy who'd been the target of their attention. He timidly lifted his head, still shaken. When his eyes met hers, he felt a flicker of hope amidst the chaos.
