Walking up to the front desk was an easy process, seeing as I done it about a million times before and each time the same old lady would look at me up and down, with a sneer and point to the principal's office. The principal and I have a very strong father daughter relationship, because every time that I got into trouble, or I didn't feel like socializing, he would always be there, waiting for me with a cup of hot chocolate with exactly five normal marshmallows and a sketchpad with some pencils to keep me occupied.
The principal, Mr. Willson, was a man that just entered his forties and had a full head of grey hair as well as a short-trimmed beard that sat on his milky skin, along with grey eyes that had a sky of greys and whites colliding together to make the perfect storm. He was always soft spoken and has an intimidating aura to anyone who didn't know him and that's the only reason why he knows about everything, ranging from the abuse to the company that is worth trillions that I have in my possession. He was and still is my biggest supporter/confidant and the only person I felt comfortable around, minus my friends.
Coming up at the dark, brown door I put on the jumper, that I carried in my hand, and gave a soft knock and entered the office, once I heard him say that I was able to come inside. Taking my normal seat, I gave him a small smile and stuck my hand inside my bag, that I had taken off once I first came into the room. Pulling out a medium sized container filled to the brim with cookies and then container filled with slices of cake, I put it on top of the desk, stood up and walked over to the coffee station inside of the office and got a handful of spoons.
"Hello Willson, how are you this fine evening? I was going to come and give this to you earlier but then I figured I would just give it to you now since I'm here" I spoke out softly once I sat back into the seat that I had previously occupied. I couldn't stop my curiosity when I didn't hear the usual reply of 'hey kid, how you doing this morning' and the complaints that he had of students that followed after. Looking up, I found him tilting his head toward the sofa in the far end of the room. Quickly looking at the sofa, I saw two men that looked carbon copies of each other, one younger than the other, sitting silently, sporting small smiles on their faces and looking at me intently.

Waking up this morning was a hassle, the thoughts and feelings in my brain were always so jumbled and disoriented in the mornings. Rolling over on my side, I open my eyes and feel around for my wife, once I found her, I wrapped my arms around her torso, careful to not hurt her and gave her a small kiss on the temple. Letting out a soft puff of air, I whispered in her ear "good morning my queen" and started rubbing gentle circles on her stomach in order to wake her up.
Opening her eyes, she gave me a wide smile and whispered back "Good morning my love" in her velvety morning voice. "How are you feeling this morning?" the question was meant to be harmless but as soon as the words came out of her mouth, my mind instantly wondered to the lost princess. I haven't seen her in years. Years of looking and praying that she would come back to us and nothing, not even a word. Every night before bed, I would wonder where she is right now and if she is safe or not. I wonder what it was like for her to grow up without her real, blood family there to support her through everything. Did she have friends to stick by her side? Did she have someone there that she was able to call mother and father or was she still holding out hope that we are searching for her? Has she given up? Has she stopped dreaming for a family and does she feel content with what she has now? Does she know we even exist?
"it's the same as every morning, just trying to get her back" I replied in a scratchy voice. With that response, I lifted the blankets and got out of bed in order to get ready for the day ahead.

It was now dinner time and everyone was gathered around the dining table, ready to eat the food that was being served. Once all the meals were placed on the extravagant setting the servants were dismissed with a quick nod and smile. Half way through the meal, I was talking with my wife and smiling at the rest of my sons when my phone rang, diverting all of the attention onto me. Quickly fishing the devise out of my pocket, I answered with an assertive 'speak'. The other person on the line took a deep breath and started talking. If I could I would recite everything that was being said but it all came out foggy as if my head was being dunked under water as soon as I heard the word 'Athena' and 'would you like to adopt' I would barely register the weak 'yes' and 'I'll be there tomorrow at the school' that snuck past my lips in an attempt to answer.
Once the phone was put down on the table, my eyes shot to my wife and I looked at her with the tears brimming at the edge of my waterline. From then on everything was a blur but I remember telling Alonzo, my eldest son, and my wife what happened and tears from everyone being shed and the happy smiles on our faces until my wife spoke out with a grin "she's coming home my love"

The time before we got to the school was suffocating but reliving, all I could think about was my little girl. My baby. When my son and I ventured into the school, the halls were empty and the classrooms were filled with children that we paid no mind to us walking down the hallway. Once we got inside the principal's office, a nice man named Mr. Willson greets us with a smile, a handshake and a quick "Welcome to James' school of Academics and Arts" my son, being the ever-formal business man that he is replies with a quick 'thank you' and got straight down to business with a 'can you tell me about my sister?'
Willson instantly had a small smile of his face at the mention of my daughter and spoke confidently "yes, Miss Williams is an amazing student with so much character and has a lot of potential for the future as well as being my favorite student out of everyone that I have supervised throughout my years. She can be a little intimidating at times but she has the best intentions of her loved ones in mind." as soon as he finished with his speech, my chest suddenly bloomed with pride, she was perfect, no she is perfect.
Not to long after the conversation ended, I heard a soft knock on the door and a girl about 5'9 enters with a beautiful smile and I instantly know that she was my daughter. She was the only one that had my eyes and she looked exactly like me from her nose to the shape of her eyebrows, the only thing that she took from her mother was her lips. That is my daughter. My pride and joy. I didn't have time to think as she sat down and pulled out two containers from her bag along with getting a handful of spoons from the coffee table. I couldn't hear anything other than my own heartbeat until her grey and blue eyes locked on mine, all of a sudden, my senses came rushing back to me and I just know the same was happening with Alonzo.
I finally have my daughter back
