Mum said it would be a good idea to move halfway across the country and to start at a new school. "A new start, a new life" seemed to be her favourite motto at the moment. I on the other hand, was not looking forward to this new start or this new school.
Looking in the mirror I fretted over what I should wear. What did everybody else wear? How should I do my hair? How much makeup should I wear? Thoughts kept running through my mind a million miles an hour. Finally I decided on a simple black long sleeve, grey ripped jeans and my black and white converse boots. My jet black hair hung straight down my back in a curly frizzy way. No matter what I did I could never get the frizz to leave. On the subject of make up I just put on some foundation and mascara and prayed that I looked alright.

Walking into the kitchen I could smell bacon and eggs cooking on the stove.
"Morning mum" I greeted, still half asleep.
"Hi Cass, do you want some eggs?" She asked, turning to look at me.
"No thanks, I'll just have an apple because I don't want to miss the bus" I responded, grabbing a green apple and my keys off the bench.
"Alright. Have a great day and make some friends!" She called out just as I closed the door behind me. Make some friends. She says that like its easy. I'm pretty much the most awkward person you'll ever meet.

I waited at the bus stop, Green Day blasting into my ears though my earphones. The bus pulled up a few minutes later and I climbed on. Oh god it was chaos. Where should I sit? Who should I sit with? What if I trip and everybody laughs? Anxiety ran through my veins as I walked down the bus. I quietly asked a very pretty girl if I could sit next to her and she flashed me a dazzling smile.
"Sure! My names Abbie, you must be new here" she greeted, flicking her long blonde hair over her shoulder.
"Yeah I am" I laughed. "Was it that obvious?"
"Nah, I've just never seen you around before" Abbie smiled again, showing a small dimple in each cheek.
She was beautiful. Long blonde hair, green eyes framed by a thin line of black eyeliner, tall and quite slim. I felt super ugly compared to her. Frizzy curly black hair, brown eyes and average looking body. She seemed nice enough though. I continued to talk to her throughout the bus ride until we stopped outside of Jennings Secondary College, the place I would spend most of my time at for the next 4 years of my life. Year 9 is supposed to be a "fun" year, full of new experiences, friends and work. Hopefully that will work out.
