The next morning, I woke up in the back of the van to see Five sitting in the front seat. I checked the watch that I had stolen a few days ago; there was less than an hour until we had to ambush Lance.

"Good, you're awake," Five commented.

"How long have you been up?" I asked.

"Irrelevant," Five quickly and firmly replied. Ah, so he didn't get any sleep. I sighed and climbed into the passenger seat so that I could get a better view of everything going on. In the cup holders, there were two coffees.

"Did you get me a coffee or are those both for you?" I questioned with a light chuckle. Five looked over at the coffees then at me.

"Go ahead," Five responded. I snatched one of the cups and took a long drink. The bitter black liquid gave me the energy I desperately needed that early in the morning. I set the coffee back in the cup holder and looked outside.

"Right there." Five set his binoculars down and pointed. I looked in the direction Five was pointing and saw Lance. He was wearing sweaty gym clothes and entering his car with a yoga mat

"He's early," I noted, opening the glovebox and pulling out a knife.

"Let's go." Five grabbed my hand and blinked us both into Lance's car. Five sat in the passenger seat and I sat in the back, directly behind Lance. I pressed the knife to Lance's neck while Five threateningly stared at him.

"Jesus!" Lance yelped, causing me to press the knife further into his neck.

"One chance. That's all you've got," Five threatened, "One chance to tell me exactly what's going on in that lab."

"I... I manufacture prosthetic devices for fake patients." Lance confessed, "I bill the insurance companies and then sell them for cash on the black market."
"Including eyeballs?"

"Yeah, they're my biggest seller. I mean, they sell like hotcakes. I... I've got a list, a waiting list, probably 20 buyers."

"So the serial number I told you..."

"Uh, could've already been bought. Yes, off... off the books."

"I need that list, Lance. Names and numbers and I need it now!"

"I don't have it. I mean, not on me. The only copy's in my safe at the lab."

"Well, you start the car then."

"'Cause we're going on a field trip," I whispered directly into his ear before moving the knife away from his neck, pressing it against the back of his seat as a constant reminder of who's in power.

Lance frantically nodded. He started the car and we headed to the Meritech Prosthetics office.

I had gotten so used to teleporting everywhere, that I forgot what a pain-in-the-ass traffic was. It took us over half an hour to get across town to the offices of Meritech Prosthetics.

Once we got there, I dropped my knife in shock from the sight before my eyes. Five and I hustled out of the car and stared in horror.

The Meritech lab was set ablaze. A massive inferno that not only burned up the products inside but our hopes of stopping the apocalypse. Five ran up to the office as though he was going to try and stop the fire.

"Five!" I called. An explosion of flames burst out from the office, sending Five flying backward. He sat there, in pain from being violently thrown off his feet. I dashed over and helped him up.

"Shit," Five wheezed.

"Are you okay?" I asked.

"Yeah... yeah, I'm fine," Five let out a violent cough from smoke inhalation, "We need another plan." Five stood up and adjusted his ash-covered blazer. He grabbed my shoulder and blinked us into the plumbing van.
