A sense of doom weighed on my shoulders as I sat straight in my bed. The worst day of the year was finally here, and I couldn't escape it. It's not like I was nervous or anything; i just absolutely despised this day. The first day of senior year. I hated the new kids, the new teachers, the new schedule, the new everything.

I dropped my feet to the ground near my bed with a heavy sigh. I do not have the energy for this today. I dropped my head in my hands while my thoughts ran wild. A new school year,
not just day; a whole entire year. Another year of headaches, annoying classmates, sitting in the front due to my glasses, and new kids.

Ever since I was young, i've hated new kids. Do you want to know why? I've been at this school for 16 years, and haven't had one ounce of popularity, yet the second they show up, they get an ego boost and become popular. It's not like i'm jealous or anything, they just become so. fucking. annoying. They all start to act like an old white man with a yacht who thinks he's better than everyone else.

I rubbed my temples, brushing the thoughts away. I drug my feet all the way towards the bathroom, not wanting to get out of my bed.

I began to text my friends, trying to distract myself from the dreadful experience i'm about to endure.

I watched as the bus pulled around the neighbors house, heading toward my corner stop. A small smile tugged at my lips, knowing at least i'll be with my friends. As usual, I sat in my usual spot with narah and zayn.

"maddy, don't look but there's a FINE ass man sitting infront of you," said narah quietly, sending a side eye towards the front of the bus.

Obviously, I looked and I locked eyes with an unfamiliar face. The man had short, brown hair and it was cut to where it was short on the sides but fluffy enough to shape his face. My eyes trailed his face, traveling over his sculpted cheekbones and jaw. I looked back up at his eyes and I realized he was staring at me.

A blush crept to my cheeks as I quickly turned away. I flashed a slight look at him a few seconds after I turned away and I saw he was smiling. Mhm, Narah was right. He is cute.
