You sat on your bed with your head in your hands. You didn't notice it at the time, but you had actually gotten a bit injured when the door exploded. A few pieces of wood had lodged themselves into your arm and shoulder, leaving you to pluck them out in the dark room. Only a candle illuminated the room.

You looked over to the edge of your bed where Tick laid. Your animal companion who was a baby crocodile. He was actually the child of the same crocodile that ate your father's hand. He was sleeping on your coat, which was also worse for wear. A few holes here and there, making it pretty much useless now. Can't sew leather.

You winced as you picked out another splinter. You set it into the bowl where the other chips of wood were. You let out a sigh before you heard a knock at your door. You really didn't feel like seeing anyone right now, but if they got to your door then it was someone you were close to.

You stood up and made your way over to the door, opening it to find a familiar face.

Darling: Hey. Sorry for coming by this late but I was wondering if you....

Her words trailed off when she saw the blood on your arm.

Darling: What happened?!

You pulled her inside and closed the door as to not give away the fact that something was wrong. Nothing was ever wrong. Once Darling saw your coat and the bowl of wood, she began to piece it together.

Darling: Did a tree blow up?

Y/N: A door, actually. What did you need?

Darling raised a brow. She them crossed her arms. What was up with you? You were being uncharacteristically quiet. But, also very uncharming. You were always flirty or lighthearted. But now there was a strange dark cloud hanging over you. What was this?

Dadling: Are you alright? You seem....down.

You just shook your head. No point in dragging someone else into your problems.

Y/N: It doesn't matter. What did you want, Darling?

She didn't like this, but she also knew how stubborn you could be. It annoyed her, but there wasn't anything she could do about it.

Darling: I just wanted to know if you were going to the star festival.

The Star Festival. You almost forgotten about it. You had other things on your mind. Once a year, on the night of the fullest moon, the sky aligns in the most spell-tacular way imaginable creating an ocean of twinkling stars and comets. It quickly became tradition to celebrate with a grand party known as the Starlight Festival and Ever After High was no exception. It was the talk of the town and the buzz of the school. With only a few days left of the semester, the students couldn't contain their excitement.

You weren't one of those students.

Y/N: I doubt it. I don't really feel like being around anyone.

A nicer way of telling her to leave. Darling got the message, and promptly threw it away. Instead she crossed her arms and eyed you for a moment. Just as you were about to ask her what she was doing, she gasped.

Darling: Oh my godmother, you're in love!

Y/N: Get out.

Darling: Who is it?! Is it Brair? Cerise? It better not be Apple. You're too good for her.

Y/N: Maddie.

Darling stood there for a moment to let the name sink in. She made a face and thought about it for a moment before she opened her mouth onkybto close it right after. She lifted a finger and seemed to draw something in the air before she looked back to you.
