"Aah, such a lovely breeze!" [Y/N] said, her glistening hair flowing with the wind. "Right, Father?"
"Mn. Good weather for our wheat." He turned back toward their cottage, though her father remained slow enough to let [Y/N] enjoy the sublime weather. After all, who could ignore the crisp spring air, full with the scent of ripening berries and the lazy humming of bees?
This is how she spent her days, helping her father with field work and hunting. Sure, it was a repetitive life, but an enjoyable one. But her average life was about to take a sharp turn.
...
"I'll come home in a bit, ok Father?" I shouted, hoping my words would reach him at the end of the path. After a loud response of approval from my father, I decided it was time for a bit of woodland exploration. Even though I was a bit old for such things, I found it a well enough distraction from mundane daily life. I needn't worry about bears and the like as the area seemed devoid of such beasts. It was the perfect area; safe and secluded.
'Ooh, berries!' I thought to myself. After quickly gorging myself on some fresh spring blackberries, I kept walking, now jubilant from my satiated stomach. As I took in the enchanting charm of the forest, I noticed something odd. Broken branches and slashed trees began appearing as I walked further into the woods, seeming to make a disjointed trail.
"How odd..." Following the trail, I began noticing something even more abnormal. Small droplets of blood began appearing the further I walked. Maybe they were just animals?
I steeled myself for what was to come, and carefully I treaded down through the underbrush. The trail of blood had ended? Peering through the thicket, I saw him.
