{ the party }

"should i straighten or curl my hair" i say after applying another layer of lips gloss on my lips.

i feel a little over the top with my skimpy, tight bodied dress, fishnets and black heels dee picked out for me to wear. but it felt kinda nice to go out of my comfort zone and wear something i never expected to wear. i felt, well.. actually hot for once.

"definitely straighten, curling it would take away from the outfit." dee says strapping on her red heels that pairs with her red two piece dress.

"you're right." i say raising my eyebrows in agreement and plugging in my hair straightener.

"girl honestly if i liked girls i would come over there and kiss you on the lips you looks so good." dee says coming up on my shoulder and smiling in the mirror with me.

"didn't you make out with a girl from your summer camp once?" jessie says laughing, putting a jacket over her white dress with little blue flowers on it.

"i was 13, we don't talk about it." dee says rolling her eyes and fixing her eye makeup.

"can we get this show on a roll?" jessie says grabbing her purse and opening my door halfway.

"yeah, i'll be down in a minute i'm finishing up this last section of my hair." i say waving her out of my room. dee stays behind me looking at me through the mirror with a sly smile.

"what?" i say with a small laugh.

"i just want you to know you don't have to do anything you don't want to tonight. just be you and whatever you're comfortable with. but have some fun yeah?" she says giving me a kiss on the cheek and walking out of my room.

"i know." i whisper to myself, unplugging my hair straightener.

i gather all my things i need for tonight and close my bedroom door. i walk down the hall to my brother charlie's room and do my signature knock so he knows it's me.

with thin a few second i hear him racing up to the door and he opens it.

"mel!" he says wrapping about my legs to give me a hug.

"i'm going out tonight, but i'll see you tomorrow morning and we can watch star wars this weekend together how about that?" i say bringing him in front of me.

"hm, okay. where are you going?!" he says with a pouty face.

"a get together with friends char." i say smiling.

"okay well, don't have too much fun without me." he says wrapping tight around me once again.

"i could never." i say giving him a peck on the forehead and waving him back into his room.

i walk downstairs to see dee and jessie talking with my mom at the island.

"there's my beautiful girl." my mom says coming over to me.

"i definitely feel different." i say with a cheesy smile.

"have fun tonight girls, and be careful please. people are assholes when they're under the influence. and also before you go, if you drink or smoke girls please be safe and don't drive home until you're sober again." she says bringing us all in for a hug, we all nod in reassurance.

i grab my car keys and shut the door. jessie sits in the passenger seat, leaving dee in the back.

"girl it's like i'm in a casket back here. got any lights?" dee says picking at her nails.

"i haven't started the car yet dee." i say with a playful smile.

"we'll get to it then." she says stretching out in the back seats.
