The Sokovia Accords are a set of legal documents designed to control and regulate the activities of enhanced individuals, including members of government agencies such as S.H.I.E.L.D or private organizations such as the Avengers. Established by the United Nations and ratified in 2026 by 117 countries, the Accords serve as a legal response to international concerns over unsanctioned actions and their consequences by enhanced individuals and members of the Avengers.
Thaddeus Ross is the Secretary of State who brought said accords to the Avengers after one of its members inadvertently caused the deaths of 26 innocent civilians and the partial destruction of the IFID headquarters in Lagos, Nigeria.
Secretary Ross explained that the accords state that the Avengers shall no longer be a private organization. Instead, they'll operate under the supervision of a United Nations panel, only when and if that panel deems it necessary.
Of course, when speaking of necessity, you'd think that would mean that a group of literal superheroes would only be needed during some sort of global emergency; apparently the United Nations believe that it is necessary for the Avengers to babysit the family of the President of the United States.
And though I can assure you that that sounds ridiculous no matter what I say, context is still pretty important.
Your name is Y/N L/N
The current president, D/N L/N, is your father.
The rest of your family consists of your mother M/N,your brother B/N, and your sister S/N.
In the past, death threats were never taken seriously, especially when they're sent to big political figures because of all the security they have.
However, with all the big terrorist organisations that have been popping up such as The Ten Rings and The Red Room, and add on the recent alien and robot invasions, the possibility of a serious assassination attempt has become more of a probability.
And with the mandatory meetings and rallies he has to go to to keep up appearances, and the fact that these types of situations can't become public knowledge, Captain America is now your new babysitter.
Though Steve Rogers seems like a flag-waving patriot, he's recently lost most of his faith in the government what with the accords and HYDRA turning out to have been hiding in S.H.I.E.L.D.
And so, needless to say, he wasn't too thrilled about watching over the child of POTUS. However, he is also a kind and respectful human being so he's not going to let his annoyance show.
You were sitting in one of the 420 rooms The White House contains, of course most of them looked the same with bland decor and white walls but at least the one you were in had a surprisingly comfy couch.
You were aware that one of the Avengers was gonna be watching over you, you were hoping it'd be Iron Man, thinking of the sarcastic and snarky exchanges you could have with him. It would be fun if it was Thor, you were always curious about his Asgardian origins. Or Hulk even, maybe he could tell you how he became a big green wrecking machine.
Unfortunately for you, you got the most boring one of them all.
"Hello." he greeted with a really awkward tone, you can't blame him though, how does one interact with the child of a president? But it's not as if you were actually a child, you're a functional adult so it shouldn't be that complicated.
"I'm Steve Rogers, as you probably already know by now, I am your new...bodyguard."
"Hi, I'm Y/N...L/N."
