After saying your farewells you were sent to Toronto with a briefcase in hand and cherry bomb by the runaways on full volume through your headphones. Before you started trying to find were Five was you needed a coffee. You walked into Griddy's to see a middle aged man and a maybe 13 year-old kid next to him, you sat down a seat away from the kid and placed the briefcase by your feet earing a look from the kid which you just shrugged off.

"Sorry sink was clogged, so what'll it be." She asked joyfully.

"A cup of coffee and a slice of carrot cake please." You smiled.

She then went onto ask the other two customers what they'd like, the older man wanted an éclair, the waitress then asked the kid if he'd like a glass of milk but he kindly declined and asked for a black coffee instead and gave the waitress the most sarcastic smile ever making you chuckle quietly to yourself, you could feel his gaze on you but you didn't dare look him in the eye.

You heard the other two customers chatting to each other, you were barley listening to their conversation but instead, thinking about the uniform the kid was wearing until it hit you, the kid was Five and he had aged back to his 13 year-old self due to the time travel effects. You stood up and walked to the bathroom to call the Handler and tell her where Five was.

The waitress placed the food and coffee on the table waiting for them to pay. "I've got his." The older man declared handing the waitress money for them both.

"Thanks." Five mumbled

"You must know your way around the city." Five stated looking at the badge on the mans jacket for a towing company.

hope so, I've been driving it for 20 years." The man sighed.

"Good, I need an address." Five started.

The man soon left getting into his truck. Five was about to enjoy drinking his coffee until multiple armed men walked into the donut shop. After a short conversation between one of the men and Five, a huge fight broke out, shots were fired everywhere and blood covered the walls while the floor scattered with bodies. After everyone was dead five took a knife and dug a tracker out of his arm, quietly smirking at how they found him, he then left dropping a tracker by a drain outside.

After you had called the handler and she told you she had it covered you sat on the sink's counter sitting criss crossed while doing your eyeliner and smoky eyeshadow. You sat quietly with your headphones in with karma police by radiohead playing and a cigarette between your fingers as you puffed out the addictive grey smoke. Your peace was soon disturbed by gunshots making you jump a bit but you decided not to get involved and just drone out the bullets until they stopped.

After the bullets stopped you waited a few minutes before floating your cake and coffee with you as you climbed out the small window and fell into a bin outside. you threw a trash bag off yourself and climbed out the bin, grabbing your cake and now cold coffee that was floating in the air. You tightly gripped onto your briefcase and took a sip of coffee while walking off to the nearest hotel.

The seventh sibling of the Hargreeves family, Vanya slowly unlocks the door into her apartment and reaches to switch the light on, until someone else does.

"Jesus!" Vanya gasped, shocked by how her brother Five was sitting on a chair in her apartment.

"You should have locks on your windows." Five said calmly.

"I live on the second floor." She sighed hanging up her coat.

"Rapists can climb." He uttered, still looking at his sister with his calm gaze.

"You are so weird." She exclaimed, closing her creaky door and sitting on her couch opposite Five.

"Is that blood?" Vanya worriedly asked her brother.

"It's nothing." He responded quietly.

"Why are you here?" She questioned her brother.

"I've decided your the only one I can trust." He sighed.

"Why me?" She asked.

"Because your ordinary." After Five said that he realised that's probably not the kindest way to put it so he rephrased it into a better version. "Because you'll listen."

"Okay." Was all she said before going into her bathroom cupboard to get stuff to clean Five's wounds.

The room was filled with silence while Vanya cleaned the cut on fives arm, until Five spoke up.

"When I jumped forward and got stuck in the future, do you know what I found?"

"No."

"Nothing." Five grieved.

"Absolutely nothing."

FLASHBACK

Five looked around at the ruins of buildings around him in disbelief.

"as far as I could tell, I was the only person left alive" Present Five narrated.

Five walked over to a newspaper box and took out one of the newspapers.

"Never figured out what killed the human race, but... I did find something else, the date it happens."

FLASHBACK END

"The world ends in eight days, and I have no idea how to stop it" Five continued.

"I'll put on a pot of coffee." Vanya nervously said.

-

"I survived on scraps, canned food, cockroaches, anything I can find." Five went on chuckling at the end.

"You know that rumour that Twinkies have an endless shelf life?" Vanya nodded to fives statement. "Well it's total bullshit."

"I can't even imagine." Vanya added.

"You do whatever it takes to survive. Or you die" Five stated

"So we adapted, whatever the world threw at us, we found a way to overcome it."

"We?" Vanya questioned.

"You got anything stronger" Five asked, dodging the question.

Vanya got up and poured Five a glass of alcohol and passed it to him, he took a large sip of the liquid then paused to look at Vanya.

"You think I'm crazy" He chuckled at his sister.

"No it's just.. It's a lot to take in." She stammered trying to defend herself.

"Exactly what don't you understand?" He asked.

"Why didn't you just time travel back." She blurted out.

Five scoffed at her. "Gee, wish I thought of that!" He answered sarcastically. "Time travel is a crapshoot. I went into the ice and never acorn-ed."

"You don't think I tried everything to get back to my family"

"If you grew old there, how come you still look like a kid?" Vanya asked curiously.

"I told you already." Five scoffed. "I must have got the equations wrong."

"I mean dad always used to say that time travel could mess up your mind. Well maybe that's what's happening." Vanya commented.

"This is a mistake, your too young... To naïve to understand." The boy hissed.

"No five... Five wait." Vanya interjected.

Five turned around to listen to what Vanya had to say.

"I haven't seen you in a long time, and I don't want to lose you again. That's all." Vanya Expressed.

"And you know what, it's getting late and I've got lessons early, and I need to sleep and I'm sure you do too, here." She put a blanket on the couch as in to offer five a space on the couch.

"We'll talk in the morning again okay? I promise." The girl comforted. "Night." She then walked off into her room leaving Five alone in the living room.

"Night." He said to himself even though Vanya had already left. He stood still for a moment before exiting the apartment.
