Hydra's POV

Our way towards Narsova was rather quiet, but I don't blame either of us. We just had a physical fight, I wouldn't have been surprised if we never saw each other ever again.

This led to me thinking even more, however. Epilson didn't have any negative feelings whenever we were fighting...only fear.

I tore my gaze from wherever it was and focused on my paws. If I had killed Epilson there, would I be any different from Narsova?

Luckily, she was nice enough to try and let me stay in the village, but there was some uncertainty in her words. She too has been isolated from the world for years. Now I'm asking the questions she's worried about; are things the way she left them?

"You good?" Epilson turned to snap me out of my trance.

"Hm? Oh, yeah." I locked eyes with the Zoroark, flashing her a small smile. "Just worrying about my family."

"Me too." She huffed and kept walking forward through the forest. "I haven't seen my father for years, I have so much to ask him."

"What if my father isn't even there?" My voice grew uneasy. "Would I have hurt you for no reason?"

Epilson seemed to think deeply about this before shifting her head in my direction and offering me a wink.

"No matter what it is, I'm sure they'd like a guy with a tough punch." She chuckled.

My eyes were perplexed by her taking light of the situation, but it was a nice sight.

"I see." I flashed her a small smile in response.

After a few minutes, we finally made it to Narsova. The walls were tall and constructed with black-painted bricks, the only way one could see inside was through the metal gate.

"Arceus..." I found myself muttering under my breath. Epilson seemed to nod in agreement with me.

"We used to not need walls this huge." The fox exhaled and stepped closer to the metal bars. "Excuse me!"

After her call, a pair of Pokemon rotated their way from the top of the wall and directly above us.

"Who are you two?" A midnight Lycanroc questioned, his eyes glaring down at the Zoroark next to me.

"We don't have a Lucario..." The Staraptor next to him noted.

"Hi, yes, I'm a citizen of this village. I'm Bandit's daughter." Epilson uttered with suspicion.

If Bandit is the leader of this village, then why didn't they recognize her immediately?

"Oh~! Bandit, Bandit." The Staraptor chuckled while playfully rolling her eyes. "Right, and who's the jackal next to you?"

"This is Hydra." The Zoroark motioned in my direction. "He grew up in a forest his whole life and needs a home."

The two guards locked eye contact with each other for a few seconds and turned back to us.

"No." The midnight Lycanroc stated flatly.

"What?" Epilson scoffed.

"Unless he's directly associated with you then I'm not allowed to let him enter." She declared.

What's going to happen now? If I can't enter, how else am I supposed to look for my family?

"Fine...I really wanted to avoid saying this, but we're an item." The Zoroark groaned.
