[Scene cuts to Lark Creek High School in the cafeteria. Calvin is getting himself some lunch. Sarah enters the scene.]

Sarah: Hey, wise guy.

Calvin: What do you want? I'm just getting any of my lunch choices, and to sit with my friends you trust.

Sarah: My brother, Lance's birthday party is on tonight at my place. You coming?

Calvin: Yeah. Jess and Leslie are coming too. Especially Kelly.

Sarah: Every time I see Burke, I did some staring contest in her. It's that in time, when I'm wanting Jess' relationship back to me.

Calvin: I can't let you do that, Sarah. Because that wasn't kind of courtesy you get for it.

Sarah: Look at them. Your two besties must be separated, so he can get his relationship back to me.

Calvin: That's not gonna happen, if I were you.

Sarah: Wait. Who's that woman?

Calvin: Janice Avery. She and I been friends for a long time. She used to bully us, but now she's a good person. The other one is Sonia Tylers, who used to bully her, when Jess and I brought Leslie here for the very first time.

Sarah: This is serious.

Calvin: Hey, don't get yourself all beaten up. We just want you to be what you read about, like Leslie did. You'll get used to being her rivalry. Anyway, we'll all talk at the main entrance later to ask if you and that guy, who almost made out with her.

Sarah: No problem.

[Calvin heads to sit with Jess, Leslie and Kelly.]

Calvin: Sarah's been bugging me, and saying his brother's birthday party is tonight. Anyway, about a scary, uncharted mansion. And this is where we are going there to find the wicked one and take her down.

Kelly: What if anyone, who wants to help us?

Calvin: I don't know.

[Conrad Miller enters the scene.]

Conrad: Jess, did your bloody hear?

Jess: About what, rad?

Conrad: You know.

Jess: I don't know. I'm sorry. Now, tell me about it or not?

Conrad: You don't want to take a guess?

Jess: No.

[pause]

[Conrad rolls his eyes]

Conrad: [deadpanned] Killjoy. Your girlfriend and that David Beckham Wannabe went to Pizzalicious together last Sunday.

Calvin: How'd you know that, Miller?

Conrad: Well, David Beckham Wannabe was boasting about it in our literature classes yesterday. I guess not just in that class, but in his other classes as well. So, I assumer your girlfriend already told you about this...?

Jess: Leslie told me about tutoring Groban on his geometry last Friday, and I already told you many times that she's not Groban's girlfriend. Geez. You know that.

Conrad: I could see how you fancied her from the day I met you two. I mean, it's really obvious, the way you at her and smile and...

Calvin: That's not how that goes for their relationship, Miller. At least, they first met when she bet boys on a racing field.

Conrad: At least you know who I was referring to.

[Conrad gets up.]

Conrad: 'Hey, classmates! Leslie and Groban had lunch together while she was tutoring him on my geometry at Pizzalicious last Sunday.' Many girls and gals who have crushes on those two that became jealous, and I assume you're one of them. By Jove! As if boasting about having a tutoring session with a beautiful and intelligent gal to almost everyone in school is cool. I pity the fool.
