Thursday, Hughes Highschool, Lunch
“Ugh! That is totally unfair Mace! How can they just expect you to completely uproot from Atlanta and move to some stupid town named Forks! Come on! Who names a town after forks? None of us can come visit you either cause it'll be too damn far away! Hmph!” Kinsley continues to drone on, not realizing by now nobody is listening.
“You know guys, there's still Skype and Facebook and stuff. It's not like we'll be completely apart from each other, just not in the same area.”
“Exactly! Listen to Macey, Kins, I'm sure we'll survive! We've been through everything together, a simple move isn't going to change it. This is inevitable anyways, we're parting for college soon, just think of Macey's as early.”
Rebecca has always been the voice of reason in our group. She's got 4 different colleges pursuing her just for her academic scores, the fact that she's a softball champion is just a bonus for them. She and Kinsley have been best friends since diaper days, adding me to the picture in 6th grade. We've been inseparable since.
Kinsley nods and changes the subject “So when is the boyfriend getting back?”
I blush “Isaac is supposed to be back tonight. Do you guys know how quiet an apartment is without him? I didn't realize how used to the noise I was.”
They both shake their heads “I think someone is in looove!” Rebecca croons wickedly
“You guys shut up! Y’all know this is gonna be hard enough, I haven't even told him yet.”
Silence consumes our table, leaving all of us feeling too awkward to speak.
“I love you guys, but I think I'm going to take the rest of my time off. I am way too far behind on packing already. If you need me, you have my number. I'll call you before I leave.”
Leaving them gaping, I quietly exit the cafeteria and begin the drive home.
That evening, Macey and Isaac's apartment
What to do, what to do. Ugh this is so hard.
I'm pacing back and forth in the small living room, trying to figure out what I should and shouldn't pack. I grab some books from the bookshelf and set them in an empty box.
“Least now I can say I made some progress.” I huff, plopping down on the blue cloth couch.
“Made some progress on what babe?”
Isaac strides in to the room, dropping his bags and coming to hug me.
“Did Kinsley bring her dog by earlier?”
I look at him incredulously “Um, no. I thought we weren't allowed to bring dogs in.”
"Hmm, okay."
He seems to look a billion times more sexy than he did when he left. Maybe it's just that I haven't seen him in a few weeks. His normally dull blonde hair seemed to shine, his lips looked fuller. And his gorgeous brown eyes were... red?
He mumbles into my hair “I missed you so much babe, I really wish you would’ve come to Florida with me. It would have been amazing.”
I tilt my head up to peck him on the lips before stepping away. Wow, his skin is amazingly clear, and pale....Where's his tan? I shake my head to rid the thoughts “I missed you too. I'm glad you're finally back though! Awesome color contacts by the way, red fits you.”
He shakes his head and walks into the living room, seeing the boxes scattered around the room.
“Is there something we need to talk about?” he asks with suspicion in his voice
“Mom died Isaac. She committed suicide yesterday. Because I'm quote underage, they're sending me to Forks, Washington to live with a cousin that I didn't even know I had, with the Quileute tribe, and I only have 5 days left before I have to catch the plane!”
I finally break down and start sobbing, Isaac sits down and holds me trying to comfort me.
“And now I'm completely stuck. I don't want to leave you, you and the girls are all that I have and I'm being forced away from it! I don't know what to keep or throw away or pack. I'm a clueless wreck that can't seem to do anything right now.” I lean into his chest and sniff. “I'm gonna miss you so much. I don't know what I'm going to do without you. You're like my rock.” I laugh halfheartedly “You feel like one too.”
He grabs my chin, forcing me to meet his eyes.
“I love you Mace. You are everything I have and need, I will always be here for you. No matter what.”
He lets go and lets me lay on him as he continues.
“I'll go with you. We both know my parents despise me, that's why we're here in the first place, and with the money we've been saving I can afford a plane ticket on the same flight. We can stay together still. We'll still go to the same school and everything! It'll be like it is now, just in a different city.”
I open my mouth to protest but he cuts me off
“Don't even argue with me. I'm going with you. Period, end of subject.”
Somehow he seems more convincing than usual. I sigh, knowing I've lost the battle. “Isaac, what if my cousin's father wants me to live on the reservation with them? I won't have much of a choice. Mom said that some tribes are serious about that kind of stuff.”
“I'm sure that they have apartments near it, it's not like they're going to put you on house arrest and shove you into a lifestyle that you have no clue about. You're bound to get leniency.”
He kisses me and says “Now how about we start packing. Cause it looks like you need some help.”

(How weird is it, someone who isn't a giant fan of twilight, writing a fanfic of twilight? Ironic, no?)
