CHAPTER 11 - What am I Still Doing Here?

To say I was panicking was just a bit of an understatement. Just a sliver, only a teeny tiny bit.

Oh who am I kidding? I'm surprised I'm not passed out on the floor from breathing so hard.

I could practically cut the tension in the room with a knife. I look between Midoriya and Todoroki observing both their expressions.

Midoriya looks more concerned than anything and probably just as nervous as I am. Todoroki is as stoic as ever and looks deadly serious.

If I die here I leave all my possessions and life savings to Dabi and Toga who can split my expired target gift card and ten dollars.

I can almost see Midoriya's thoughts and apprehension. He asks hesitantly, "We should probably eat soon. The cafeteria is going to be busy. Don't you think?"

Midoriya visibly swallows heavily. Todoroki says, "I was overwhelmed and it made me break the promise I made to myself a long time ago. Iida and Kaminari, Yaoyorozu and Tokoyami, Uraraka none of them felt it. In that moment I was the only one who could sense your true power. It reminded me of something. Experiencing All Might's quirk."

Uhhhh ruh roh raggy.

"Oh yeah, okay. Is that all?" Midoriya looks like he might break down at any moment.

"I'm saying the power coming from you felt the same as All Might's." Todoroki looks at his left hand and slowly lowers it to look at Midoriya.

Ahahah fuck. Midoriya is totally fucked.

"Midoriya," Todoroki asks, "are you really All Might's secret love child or something?"

Midoriya's eyes widen and he becomes a lot less nervous and a lot more confused.

Me on the other hand, it takes every fiber of my being to not burst out laughing.

"Well are you?" Todoroki asks again.

"No! No way! That's not it at all. But I guess even if I was I'd totally say I wasn't  so you probably won't believe me no matter what I bet- anyway I promise you've got the wrong idea." Midoriya speaks rapidly, "and why would you even think that about me?"

"'That's not it at all' is interesting wording. It suggests that there is something between you two that you're not supposed to talk about." Todoroki observes. "My father is the hero Endeavor."

Oh god that bastard? This poor, poor child.

"You must've heard of him. Which means you're aware he's the number two hero. So if you're connected to the number one hero, All Might, in some way that would mean I have even more of a reason to beat you." Todoroki continues.

Not really seeing how I'm involved in this.

"My old man is ambitious, he aims for the top. He used his power to make a name for himself as a hero. But he was never able to beat All Might. So the symbol of peace is living proof of his failure. He's still at it though, trying to take over All Might. One way or another..."

"I'm not really sure what you're getting at. What are you trying to tell me Todoroki? And what does L/N have to do with this?" Midoriya stutters.

Midoriya is asking the real questions here.

"Have you ever heard of quirk marriages? They became a problem in the first few generations after super powers became widespread. There were those who sought out potential mates solely with the intention of creating powerful children. Many people were forced into relationships. They were simply viewed as old fashion arranged marriages. But clearly they were unethical. My father has not only a rich history of accomplishments but plenty of money to throw at his problems. He bought my mothers relatives to get his hands on her quirk. And now he's raising me to surpass All Might"
