"You will be fine sweetie, I promise, this is such a small town and everybody knows everybody there is no way you wont fit in." My mother assures me. We had just moved to Hawkins about two months ago, luckily this was during the summer so I didn't have to try and go to school right away. My mother had gotten me registered and I have been dreading the moment I would have to set foot in Hawkins High ever since.
I havent been out much since we moved, like every other teen who moves in life, I am resentful that I had to leave all my friends and other family back in Michigan. I have pretty much barred myself in the house and not gone anywhere or met anyone. I just dont think that this town is really worth my time or effort, because this is not where I want to be. I would much rather be in Michigan and getting ready to graduate with my friends than to be in Hawkins and trying to make the next two years of my life not suck.
"Your mother is right for once" my father teases, my mother gives him a stern look before rolling her eyes, he chuckles and lays a kiss on her cheek "I'm kidding,"
"Very funny"
"But all joking aside, she is right, you will get to know some of the kids in this town and make some new friends"
"I had plenty of friends back home. . ."
"Samantha Owens, we are not going back, now enough of the pity party."
"Whatever, I am gonna be late anyway" I sulk. I grab my book from the table and my bag from the floor. I stomp toward the front door and walk outside. I start walking down the street past all the neighborhood houses. I watch as kids get in their cars and start walking toward the school. I dont understand how they could just up and decide that we were moving. And to a place that isn't even that interesting, I mean this place is so bland, so vanilla. Michigan wasn't much better but it at least had some color.
I look around this bleak little town, its not a place you would ever dream of going. A loud humming starts behind me, I stop walking and turn around to look in the opposite direction. A car starts speeding toward me, the humming getting louder as this car draws closer and closer to me. I hold my book close to my chest, the rumbling of the car gets closer, I can recognize that the car is a Blue Camaro and the boy driving has blonde curls and lots of them.
I notice a passenger, her beautiful red hair flowing as they pass, I turn when they pass me and the boy sticks his head out his window and looks back at me. He swerves a moment before sticking his head back in the window and straightening his car up on the road. I sigh out loud then continue on my way to school. I hope for the sake of my sanity that this isnt the most gruesome two years of my life. School is already hell I dont want this shitty town to add to it.
I continue walking for another fifteen minutes, my feet are getting rather tired and my legs hurt. As I draw closer tot he school I can hear chatter and shouting from student to student. I look around at all the kids here and there is way more than I thought. As I draw closer to the crowd I hear shouting to my left near the parking lot.
"I told you to stop talking to him Max! How many times do I have to repeat myself!"
"We werent hanging out, we werent talking, we are in the same class do you just expect me to ignore him you bastard? Leave me alone" The young girl storms off into the opposite direction of this boy that was driving the Blue Camaro. His blonde curls flow down his back in a mullet which is a little odd because mullets really arent in anymore where I am from.
"Dont make me say it again Max! I mean it!" He shouts angrily in her direction. She turns to him, wlaking backwards then gives him the finger. I cover my mouth to supress my laughter as I walk past. I feel like he is watching me as I walk past, the group of girls leaning against a different car stare at him and one even licks her lips.
