"Cute but comfy has to be the most vague dress code that I've ever heard in my eighteen years of existing on this planet," I told Dill who was sitting on the edge of my bed, already dressed in her cute pajama set.

I looked myself over in the mirror, gently tugging on my white baby tee that said MARVEL in big red letters across my chest.

The low rise red plaid flare fleece pants I had on made my ass look bigger than it actually was, my palms gripping it slightly as I turned my back a bit to take a look in the mirror with a soft laugh.

"I still cannot believe that I let you talk me into getting my goddamn belly button pierced . . . what kind of fucking powers do you have over my mind anyway?"

"Well, I figured you needed a little pick me up or something after your . . . encounter with Robert this morning. Maybe a little boost of confidence for the next time you face him," Dill beamed with a huge grin.

"And what makes you think that I care about what-"

"Of course you care, otherwise convincing you wouldn't have been so damn easy."

"I guess you got me there, Dill. Thank you for that kick in the pants."

She shrugged her shoulders and didn't say anything else, the proud and triumphant smile never leaving her face as she dug her face back into the book she was reading.

I chuckled softly to myself and turned to face the mirror again, poking my diamond belly piercing gently and giggling as it dangled.

Never did I ever think that my square ass would have my belly button pierced, and have it look so damn good.

There was something changing within myself and I had no idea what it was, but I knew that I couldn't wait to find out how far it was gonna go.

About an hour later, once again, Dill and I found ourselves pulling up to the massive house in the hills that made my breath hitch every time I laid eyes on it.

We grabbed our bags from the trunk and parked behind the familiar white Jeep from the night before, making my heart sink to my stomach a bit.

Of course the red haired girl is here.

Almost as soon as the thought filled my head, the front door swung open for an upset looking Miah to come into view as she walked down the porch steps in our direction, only turning to look back when a familiar voice called out to her.

"Come on now, don't be like this," Robert said in a rough, pleading voice with a cigarette between his lips, his eyes glossy but his expression a bit hardened.

Miah glanced over towards Dill and I for a brief second before looking over to Robert again, not moving from where she was.

"I don't know how many times you have to read that text before it becomes anymore clear to you, Robert. It's happening whether you like it or not."

"But over a goddamn text, you really cannot be serious, Miah."

The expression on his face was more hurt than it was anger, and I silently wished that I could comfort him right then and there, but it occurred to me that he probably didn't even notice that Dill and I were in the middle of their argument.
