He said, "Let's get out of this town

Drive out of this city, away from the crowds"

I thought, "Heaven can't help me now"

Nothing lasts forever

But this is gonna take me down

It was their fifth fight this week. She thinks. Maybe more, Piper gave up trying to count them. She sat curled up on the couch, hugging a blanket and flipping through Netflix shows. At this point, they didn't even faze her anymore, she got used to all the fights, yelling and tension between her and Finn. She sighed, dropping the remote next to her and starting to think when all this started, because when her and Finn started dating they had a seemingly perfect relationship. And then it all went to shit. The sound of the doorbell ringing pulled her out of her trance, and she opened it to find him standing there, a soft smile playing on his lips.

"Let's go on a drive"

"To where?"
"Away" Was his reply, and she knew what he meant. Away from all the people, the crowds, the voices. But she also sensed the way he said "away" had a sense of finality to it, like this is the last time they'd be away together.

"Okay, let me get changed"

The fact that this would be their last date didn't upset her, it disappointed her. She doesn't know what lead her to believe that, Finn didn't say anything of the sort, but she felt it inside her. The way he looks at her still shows the same love they held the first day they started dating all those years ago, but they also held goodbyes. She knew what Finn wanted. She wasn't naïve, Piper and Finn were respectively 23 and 24, and this was a high school lovers type relationship, and she knew that the way the universe works was that nothing lasts forever, but she somehow still held stupid hope that this relationship would've lasted. Eventhough she had already prepared herself for this end, it still broke her.

He's so tall and handsome as hell

He's so bad, but he does it so well

I can see the end as it begins

My one condition is

They sat in his car, the windows pulled down and the breeze ruffling up their hair. Piper looked over at Finn, his hand on the steering wheel and a soft smile on his lips, one he somehow always had. She liked to believe he only had that soft smile when he was with her.

He's handsome as fuck

Piper already knew that, it was obvious he was, but now that she was met with a situation where this would possibly be the last time she'll see him was when she realized it. She didn't know what exactly made him handsome though, she loved a lot about his looks. She adored his height, his blue eyes that sparkled when he was truly happy, his blonde curls that have gotten a little longer over the years since their time on the next step, and the way they were messy when he first woke up in the morning. But most of all, it was his confidence. Ever since they grew out of The next step Finn has matured, and with that came a new air of confidence. He could command a room as soon as he steps foot in it, and that alone makes him more attractive and desirable than his looks.

Piper sighed, putting her feet up on the dashboard. If this absolutely had to be the end, she didn't mind. But she did have one single hope for the end of their 7-year relationship.

Say you'll remember me

Standin' in a nice dress

Starin' at the sunset, babe

Red lips and rosy cheeks

Say you'll see me again

Even if it's just in your

Wildest dreams, ah, ha

She wanted him to remember her, them, in a good light. Their relationship was a huge part of their characters, their lives, for them to end it on a bad note. Which is why she suspected Finn was doing this. They were sitting on a blanket laid out on the sand, under the setting sun, Piper cuddled into his chest as he was fondling her hair. It was a serene silence, something they haven't had for a while.

"I love you" He whispered, his lips touching the top of her head.

She looked up at him, smiling. Her cheeks were rosy red from the sun that had been over her the whole day, her lips matching that shade, the white dress she picked out swaying with the wind. This is a memory she wanted engraved in his mind, them like this, just loving each other, their surroundings calm. She wanted to always be on his mind, even if it was years down the line, she wanted him to see her again, even if it was just in good memories and his wildest dreams that they would've stayed together.

I said, "No one has to know what we do"

His hands are in my hair, his clothes are in my room

And his voice is a familiar sound

Nothin' lasts forever

But this is gettin' good now

They would've called them insane. They wouldn't have ever understood what Finn and Piper are doing. If Amy, or Henry, or Lily or any of their friends found out, they would've told them to "get their acts together and stay together or just break up". They would've called this utter bullshit. Which is why no one has to know what they're doing.

Eventhough they knew this is the last time they'd be together, or maybe because they knew it would be the last time, they were on top of each other, begging for more. More than they ever did before. Several articles of clothing were around he room, their lips attached desperately, and Piper felt this was all too familiar. She absolutely adored the familiarity of Finn, the way she knew everything about him, the familiar sound of his voice as he just leaned in and whispered in her ear "God, pipes, I love you". Which is exactly why it hurt her more every time she remembered this would be the end.

You'll see me in hindsight

Tangled up with you all night

Burnin' it down

Someday, when you leave me

I bet these memories

Follow you around

They were walking down the sandy beach, hand in hand, after their few days of vacation when he said it.

"Pipes, I think we should break up"
"I know" she sighed, turning to face him

"You know I love you, and I always will. It's just this is getting too stressful, our constant fights and..."
"You don't have to explain yourself Finn, I know. I feel the same way. I just have one request"
"Ofcourse, anything for you"
"Please remember us in a good way. Let these memories stay with you"
He smiled, leaning in to whisper in her ear "Exactly what I was planning to do."
