Hold me While You Wait

Kind of a short part but I missed them so much!!

I'm waiting up,

saving all my precious time

Losing light,

I'm missing my same old us

Late at night

Finn rolled on his side, kicking the blankets off him. He grabbed his phone, the bright light of the screen blinding his eyes in the stark darkness of the room. 4:15 am, the screen read, and he sighed when he saw no notification. He had to be up at 6 am for a show the next day and he still hasn't slept a wink, waiting for her call, yet still nothing. She doesn't finish university and dance classes till at least 12 pm with a major performance coming up for her, and with the difference time zones between New York and Paris that would mean his work day would've already started. He shook his head, finally giving up and opting for sending her a text instead.

Hey Pipes, sorry I couldn't catch you but eventually had to go to sleep. I love you and have a great day!

Before we learned our truth too late

6:04 am

I am SO sorry Finn, I love you too! I'll try to catch you today xoxo

Finn smiled at her signature xos at the end of her texts, then his smile turned into a frown. This is how it was every day. One, or a few if he's lucky, texts and that's it. He hasn't heard her voice in ages, he hasn't seen her face in ages. Heck, she could've turned blonde for all he knew about her currently (not that she wouldn't totally pull that look off). He felt like he's taking a backseat in her life right now, while all he's doing is trying to put her first, but he guessed his list of priorities is vastly different to hers with how their relationship is going. He put on his shoes, leaning down to tie his shoelaces.

Flashback

"yes Finn, you actually have to tie these! Oh my god what an innovative discovery I know!"
He laughed and pulled her towards him, pressing his lips against hers to stop her teasing. It has been a week since the dance battle where his shoe fell off and piper wouldn't get off his back about that incident. She pulled away and gave him a small smile, her eyes looking up at him. Oh god, how those eyes made him melt every.single.time.

"You're annoying; you know that?" He asked her

"Mhm, but you still love me"
"Can't argue with that" He placed a kiss on her forehead

He wishes they knew before she left for New York and he left for Radiation, it would've been easier to end it then and save them both even more heartbreak. They learned the truth way too late. They actually both thought this could work out, that no matter the distance, or time zones, or busy schedules they'd stay together, they'd find a way to be okay. Now they're just both holding on at the brim, but Finn isn't sure if holding on is worth it anymore.
