Outside the Crystal Temple, Steven and Connie  were sitting on the top-right hand of the Crystal Temple statue, as they tuned their ukelele and violin respectively. The pair then proceeds to sing a duet.

🎵 Steven:
The sun is bright, our shirts are clean.
We're sitting up above the sea.
Come on and share this jam with me.

Connie:
Peach or plum or strawberry, any kind is fine, you see.
Come on and share this jam with me!
I'll do my best, to give this jam the sweetness it deserves.

Steven:
And I'll keep it fresh, I'm jamming on these tasty preserves!

Both:
Ingredients in harmony, we mix together perfectly, come on and share this jam with me! 🎵

"WOO-HOO!" Steven cheered. "Jam buds!"

"Nice jam session!" Connie smiled, as she put her violin back in the case.

"Don't forget the best part!" Steven insisted.

Steven spread some strawberry jam on a biscuit and prepared to eat it, when a flock of seagulls approached and growled at Steven. Steven screamed and flinched, when he saw Connie use her violin bow to fend them off.

"Yah! Hah! Hi-yah! Run back to your masters!" Connie threatened. "Tell them we're not afraid of your kind!"

"Thanks for saving my jam snack. Unfortunately, it's not safe from me." Steven giggled, before he ate the jam snack. "You're such a good sword fighter, Connie."

"Really?" Connie questioned, as she glanced at her violin bow. "I was just swinging this thing around. I don't really know what I'm doing, but I'd love to learn how to use a real sword!"

"Oh!" Steven said, before he swallowed the snack and got starry eyed. "Steven has an idea!"

In the Beach House, Steven told Ezra and Pearl about his idea.

"You want me to do what?" Pearl asked.

"You should teach Connie to sword-fight, she's already so good!" Steven repeated.

"Steven!" Connie said, with a blush.

"But you are!" Steven insisted. "You helped me fight the robot floaty-thing, she took down that evil clone of herself, uh...those mean seagulls just now..."

"Evil clone?" Ezra repeated, in confusion.

"Mom's room." Steven informed.

"Mmm." Ezra nodded.

"You're awfully young to begin something like this." Pearl said. "But, I suppose I was only a few thousand years old when I began fighting alongside Rose Quartz."

Connie rose her hand for Pearl's attention.

"Yes, Connie?" Pearl asked.

"Please, I wanna learn!" Connie insisted, with a blush. "I mean, I don't know what'll happen in the future, but if something dangerous comes along, I don't wanna be a burden, I wanna help! I wanna be there for Steven, to fight by his side! The Earth is my home too, can't I help protect it?"

"Oh... Okay...!" Pearl agreed as she was touched with tears of joy and stood up to wipe them away. "If that's how you feel, we should get started!"

Pearl walked off.

"Woo-hoo!" Steven cheered, before he followed Pearl.

"Wait, now?" Connie asked.

"I guess." Ezra replied.
