She sat alone on the otherwise empty swing sets, gazing listlessly at the ground. Her thoughts were sad and lonely.

I planted the idea in her easily influenced mind, the idea of creating a friend since she had none.

She would believe she created her imaginary friend.

Her name was Harper. When I introduced myself to her she was four years old. She was an only child and didn't make friends easily. She probably would one day, but I didn't think about that. To her I was like a wisp, barely there, fueled by her own mind. I didn't know exactly what I looked like in her eyes, only that I provided company when there was no one else. That was simply what I did.

I was invisible to the rest of the world, and was a friend to her alone. It was a sacrifice I chose to make.

I chose to save her.
