Chapter 10: Allan's evidence

"Here!" Allan cried, jumping up. But he'd grown so big, he sent the jury box flying and everyone fell out.


"What do you know about all this?" demanded the Queen.
"Nothing," said Allan.
"Let the jury consider their verdict," the Queen announced.
"Sentence first, verdict later," insisted the King.
"Nonsense!" shouted the Queen.
"Off with his head!" added the King.


By now, Allan had grown to his full size. "You're nothing but a pack of cards!" he scoffed. At this, the whole pack rose into the air and came flying down upon him.


Allan screamed... and woke up to find his brother gently brushing dead leaves from his face. "Oh, I've had such a wonderful dream," he said and told him all about it, before running off for tea.
