Janus had worked tirelessly for months to build his new timeship from the prying eyes of the Lantean Council. Moros himself had come to check on Janus several times, not believing Janus had truly given up on his scientific curiosity or rebellion. Of course, Moros was right. Janus wasn't about to openly admit that however. Janus was good as hiding things, even his secret lab had gone unnoticed by his Ancient brothers and sisters. Of course, this time he had no lab to hide everything in anymore, seeing as that was back on Atlantis. He caught himself audibly sighing out.

Atlantis. He missed her. He wondered which "her" he was referring to. Just Atlantis? Or Dr. Weir? Both he decided. He missed them both. Atlantis he was born in. Dr. Weir he had only known a short amount of time. She had lost everything though, yet she was still elegant, unique, and calm. She used her words and made a believer out of Janus. He smiled to himself. It wasn't hard to do that. He wasn't exactly what you would call a team player. He ignored the rules whenever he had the chance to. Even now his timeship was built, and it wasn't supposed to be.

Janus would sigh while looking over his shoulder. One couldn't be too careful these days. Right now the Alterran/Lantean Empire was being rebuilt on another world they had yet to name at this time. Dakara was an option originally, but it seemed that world had been taken over by some kind of parasitic race masquerading as Gods. Even with all this, Janus would not find it surprising if Moros still randomly popped in from time to time to see if Janus was up to absolutely no good. His thoughts crept upon him as he kept wondering about her.

Because of Elizabeth Weir, humans had become something of an obsession for Janus. He had no doubt in his mind what he was going to do with his new timeship. He wanted to observe human development. Not just on Earth, but worlds across the Milky Way galaxy where these Goa'uld had seeded more human life throughout. Moros and the others however were more interested in these Goa'uld things. Janus ignored any conversation relating to a bunch of false Gods and slavers, like the parasitic beings of the Goa'uld. They could really only be a threat for so long.

Much to Janus' surprise, the Asgard and Furlings had gone several rounds with them already. Despite superior technology, the only reason neither race had seen fit to wipe these aggressive parasites was due to their own kindness. More accurately, the lack of a stomach to wage a war that would properly decimate their enemy. The Goa'uld known as Ra was the rallying voice behind them. Though in the future, it would not be Ra who would be known as the worst of the bunch. Apparently, there are crimes that are unspeakable even to a bunch of slaving parasites. Who would've thought it?

The days crept on Janus as he was about to launch his new ship. Simulations can only take you so far of course. While in the pilot's seat, he set course for Dakara and slowly upped the power in the time device. He was curious about a time period close to that of which Dr. Weir came from. Meaning his first experiment would take him 10,000 years into the future. He dialed up the device and activated the timeship's cloaking device at the same time. Thankfully doing such a thing wouldn't have any lasting effects. Janus just wanted to see if it could be done.

With that, there was a sudden flash. There he was, 10,000 years into the future and in orbit of Dakara. Dakara's significance in the history of the Ancients was the fact that before the first time the Ancients left the Milky Way, Dakara was their capital world. As Janus looked around to see what had become of it, his jaw dropped at the sight of what looked like hundreds, maybe even thousands of ships in orbit of Dakara. It was a massive battle unlike any battle seen from the 100-year long war with the Wraith even.

At that moment, as he had looked around, Janus did not feel alone. He looked behind him to see Ganos Lal.  "Now how did I know I'd find you here?" Ganos asked Janus. He looked at Ganos, stunned and amazed. "How did you-?" Janus was cut off by her amused smile and he realized. "You ascended? As in, you are dead, aren't you?" He asked her. Before she could respond, he had other things to say. "I am not ascended Ganos. Therefore I am not subject to your rules." He stated. She nodded in understanding, leaning back in her seat.

"I know. That is not why I sought you out. I tried to catch up with you on your travels. This was the only one I could predict you going to." She said with a smile. Something about that smile absolutely irked Janus. He couldn't put it into words but that smile felt fake. The kind of smile you only see when someone has a knife behind their back, ready to stick the knife into your back. He stared at her momentarily before asking her. "What is it you want Ganos? Something droning and ridiculous I imagine. More textbook things?" He asked her.

She shook her head and smiled. This smile felt different. Sincere maybe. "The humans you are so fond of, from Earth. They are involved in this battle you see now over Dakara. I find myself interested in them as well from time to time. They are more than worthy of our legacy. I think I should have listened to your arguments more closely." Ganos said. Janus looked at her, unsure of what to say. It wasn't often someone on the Lantean Council admitted when they were in the wrong. He should know, considering he himself sat on the Council as chief scientist.

Janus was stunned. Before he could say anything else though, Ganos had disappeared. He turned back to his controls to look at the fighting. It seemed it was over, and that the humans had won. The humans, and their Jaffa allies had won the day. Janus wasn't sure whom or what they were fighting though. He certainly didn't want to let anyone know he was around so he couldn't really ask questions either. He smiled contently knowing that humans would at least play a significant role in what happens in their own galaxy. He wanted to know more however. Much more.

Taking his ship back to his own time, Janus started to work on a device that would allow him to study humans much more closely: a personal cloaking device. Much like the one found on ships like his. He determined it shouldn't be from a power source generated from a distance. Instead he opted for a wearable device with it's own embedded power source. Within a few months time, he had the answer he was looking for: a wristband with a small crystal for a power source. He also decided to make it so the person wearing it would have to have the ATA Gene.

It had taken awhile, but Janus found a specific group of humans to study. A team comprising of 2 soldiers, an archeologist, and a Jaffa. They called themselves: SG-1.
