The weeks passed since she first arrived at the outpost.
She sat in the library in the corner while reading a book.
The others talked and complained, some even stared at her.
She didn't get involved because each person in the outpost annoyed her.
On the first day, she almost slit Coco's throat but stopped herself.
Humans always made her powers go haywire as humans always thought that they were immortal and that they would never face the devil.
She hated people like that.
Emile enjoyed people that understood that life was short.
Money didn't matter when you only have 100 years or less to live.
"Hey book girl why didn't you come join us?" said Evie.
"I rather not but that you for asking" Emile.
"Hey Emile, where did you live before this?" said Dinah.
"Hotel Cortez," said Emile.
"Really, isn't that place famous for evil," said Gallant.
"Yes," said Emile.
They all looked at her when suddenly the doors opened showing a man in all black with some red hints and long wavy honey blonde hair.
He started walking around the couches as she stayed on the floor.
She was the odd number so she didn't bother fighting with anyone.
Suddenly he looked at her and almost stopped walking completely.
She looked into his every and saw his numb mask peeling.
Suddenly her heart started pounding in her chest as he walked past her.
The clicking of his shoes was enough to send her into cardiac arrest which wasn't physically possible, that's what made her realise what he was wasn't human and she questioned if he saw right through her as well.
He stood straight in front of the fireplace and looked at everyone.
"My name is Langdon and I represent the Cooperative," the man said in a deep voice that echoed through her.
His voice was soothing to her but threatening to everyone else.
She put the book away after almost breaking it in half without struggling.
I won't sugarcoat the situation.
Humanity is on the brink of failure" he said.
"My arrival here was crucial to the survival of civilized life on earth," he said.
She could tell there was more behind this.
He acted cold when she could tell he wasn't normally like that at least not in front of people that constantly complain about being alive and safe.
The three compounds, in Syracuse, New York, Beckley, West Virginia and San Angelo, Texas have been overrun and destroyed" he said.
"We've had no contact from the six International outposts but we are assuming that they too have been eliminated," said Langdon.
"What happened to the people inside?" said Timothy.
"Massacred," said Langdon.
"The same fate that will befall almost all of you," said Langdon before he looked at her.
"Almost all?" said Mallory.
"In the knowledge that this very moment may occur we built a failsafe.
The sanctuary" said Langdon.
"The sanctuary?" questioned Coco.
"The sanctuary is unique.
It has certain security measures that will prevent overrun" said Langdon.
"Excuse me sir.
What measures?
Why weren't we given them?" said Mrs Mead.
Emile looked at Langdon, the measures had to be supernatural.
No human could get past a demon, witch or warlock or even hell hounds.
"That's classified," said Langdon.
"All that matters is that the sanctuary will survive.
So the people populating it will survive, so humanity will survive" said Langdon.
"Who are the people populating it?" said Andre.
"Also classified," said Langdon.
"However, I have been sent to determine if any of you are worthy and fit to join us," said Langdon.
Everyone started talking as she looked around.
This would make them fight like cats and dogs.
"The cooperative has developed a particular and rigorous questioning technique we like to call 'cooperating'," said Langdon.
"I will then use the information gained to determine if you belong" Langdon said.
"What is this the hunger games?
This is bullshit" said Coco.
Emile hoped she was left here to rot.
"I paid my way in here and that is the only cooperating I plan on doing," said Coco.
"You don't have to sit for questioning," said Langdon.
"What happens if we choose not to?" said Andre.
"Then you stay here and die" said Langdon.
This was going to be interesting.
