The research and pricing things online took longer than Weiwei would have liked to admit but looking at the numbers she could not help but smile at the results of her hard work. Now all she had to do was wait for her parents to come home. While she waited Weiwei went over in her head what she planned to tell both her parents and what she would be talking to with her mom alone. That way her mother could pick and choose when and how to tell her father things. Weiwei having a boyfriend was on the top of 'the list on the mom only' talks. She knew her father would blow a gasket when he found out that Weiwei had already started to date before she finished college. She didn't want to be anywhere near that explosion and fully planned to do a strategic retreat behind her mother when the news broke out. The dorm at the clubhouse would be another though she did not plan to release the full details on that was not something she planned to discuss even with her mom.
All too soon she heard the front door open and her parents happy voices announcing that they were home. Fortifying herself, the beauty left her room and welcomed the two back before asking them to join her in the living room when they were ready to. She had some stuff to tell them and it was going to take some time to go through all of it.
Both parents looked confusedly at their daughter for a few moments then dropped their keys, bags, and changed into their house slippers before following in their daughter's wake into the living room. After the two sat down on the loveseat and gave their beloved daughter their complete attention they quickly realized that whatever Weiwei had to say was serious by the twisting of the book in her hands. They were worried that their daughter might just break the book. Old Bei prompted their daughter to tell them whatever that she wanted to tell them. Whatever it was it couldn't be that bad, could it? They gave their daughter their complete attention.
Giving a nervous grin Weiwei clenched her leather journal in her hands tighter and said "Ma, Dad, I will be returning back to Beijing earlier than originally planned. I have been offered and have accepted a lucrative job offer that will take my schooling as my top priority. Now you will not quite approve of the job because it is in a new field that you may not quite understand yet. It may sound like an imaginary profession to you even. But it is a legitimate job and it has to deal with one of my biggest hobbies." She paused to gather her courage before continuing on. "The job I have accepted to do is to be a member of a professional eSports team." she waited for the onslaught of questions.
"What do you mean you are a member of a professional eSports team? What kind of job is that?" Her mother cried out. Why would her daughter just up and agree to do a job playing video games? How could her daughter support herself while she is going to school or afterwards? What was that girl of her's was thinking? This was not like her normally logical child.
Taking a deep breath Weiwei informed her parents "An eSports team member means that I would be playing a videogame professionally. There are normally around five members in a team. Kinda like if I was playing professional sports. And before you start criticizing that it is not a viable job in the long run; you are correct. However, after I retire from the league I fully plan to transfer to the business side of the company who owns the team to be in their software development department. Plus I fully plan to save and invest my paychecks so I will have a tidy little nest egg by the time I retire from playing professionally." Weiwei answered her mother. "With that being said I would have a job that pays handsomely with bonuses for winning and from endorsements that will work around my college schedule and would also pay for my own personal housing throughout the year. However, I will need some stuff for the job. Proper clothing to wear to meetings and interviews when I am not wearing the team uniform. I already did an inventory of my closet and I now realize that I should not have ignored mom's critiques of my wardrobe over the years."
