I peered into nearly all the carriages on this bloody train, and I had yet to find Bill or Charlie. I had found Percy, I had found the twins, but no sign of the older Weasley siblings.
I might have freaked out a couple of first years as well.
I sighed out loud. How had I managed to lose two grown men? And it's not like they weren't easy to spot, because they were! With all their height and red hair, it was kind of hard to miss them.
I looked ahead of myself, spotting Carter, and I had to steady myself and take a couple of deep breaths before I approached him.
"Hi, Carter. How are you?" I asked softly, and he whipped around rather quickly, a smile blooming on his face.
Merlin, he was absolutely adorable.
"Hi Porter, I didn't see you there!" he said before he embraced me quickly, as he did to everyone else. "How was your summer?"
"A complete bliss," I said easily, thinking about how I had managed to prank Bill a grand total of five times in just two weeks. Retaliation on his part was a problem for the future me. "What about you? Your sister wrote to me about something involving a lake?" I asked curiously and Carter blushed.
"Oh, yeah, I fell into the lake, clothes and all. It was... her fault really." He said with a laugh and I giggled as well.
"Well, it's nice to see you dry and about, really. But all good things come to an end. I'm looking for Bill and Charlie, have you seen them?" I asked softly and Carter shrugged.
"I could be mistaken, but I think I saw them going in the perfects' carriage." He said, before smiling at me. "The meeting's in an hour. I'll see you there?"
I smiled back as I walked away. "I'll be the one at the front."

I made a beeline to the perfects' carriage because Bill and I still had things to sort out, and I needed Charlie for protection really.
I entered the carriage, and sure enough, there they were, with Bill hunched over what I was guessing were the patrol schedules, and Charlie sitting on top of a desk, wondering about whatever it is he usually wondered about.
"Hi, guys!" I greeted softly and they both looked at me with smiles. "I've looked for you two everywhere. Found the twins, I think they're up to something."
"They've been up to something since they were born, what's your point?" Charlie asked as he laughed before he continued. "But I saw you with Carter. What is that about?"
I did my best to not blush as I answered. "I was asking him if he'd seen you two."
Bill snorted as he rested his elbows on the table, looking at me as if he was staring straight into my soul. It was creepy but at the same time fascinating. "Are you sure that was it?"
I laughed, trying to hide my blushing cheeks. "What else would I talk to him about?"
Bill gave me a look that told me he knew all too well what I would be talking to Carter about and I was immediately at a loss for words.
Alright, so maybe Bill knew more than I thought.
"So, are you helping me with the patrol timetables or should I prepare them myself?" Bill asked as a way to deviate the subject and I immediately approached him, being careful to maintain a safe distance.
Charlie laughed when he realized the reason for my putting distance between myself and Bill, and Bill laid a hand on my shoulder, making me slightly scared.
"You don't have to worry. I won't bite back, for now."
I shrugged as I took a small step further from Bill.
"I'm worried about when you'll bite back."
"I won't bite unless you want me to, Porter."

Sharing a dorm with Bill and Bill only would probably be a lot of fun if I hadn't been busy worrying about retaliation. Helga, I was starting to regret pranking him while I had stayed over at his house.
The door to the shared area of the dorms opened and I jumped, ready to hide out in my room before I saw the look on Bill's face, and the good person in me decided to approach him.
"What's up, Weasley?" I asked quietly and Bill looked up before he picked up my legs and sat down, placing my legs on top of his so he could sit down on the couch.
"Mum wrote me a letter." He said with a sigh and I rose an eyebrow.
"That's what bummed you?" I asked with a snort and Bill shook his head.
"The problem is the content, not the letter itself, Porter." He explained and I rolled my eyes.
"Well, hand it over then."
Bill gave me the letter and I began reading it. In the beginning, it was just the usual Molly Weasley thing of over-worrying about her older son and asking him to please watch over the twins and make sure they weren't up to cause trouble (as if that was possible), and I was mildly surprised and endeared to see her ask about me and demand Bill gave me her love, but towards the end, Molly was, once again talking to Bill about what she usually talked to me about. The need for a significant other. And her ability to find him a perfect match.
"It's the third time this week she's written to me about this." He said as an explanation and I sighed through my nose.
"It's your mum, that's just what she does, Bill," I said softly as I handed him back the letter. "Why does this leave you so tired and bothered all of a sudden?"
"She wants to send me on a date to Hogsmead with the daughter of a friend of hers or whatever. I'm tired of this. I had to endure an entire summer of this. I just don't want to date right now, but she insists I should." He explained and I nodded, but what he said next was what really got me. "And the weirdest of it all is that she keeps suggesting you as the perfect girlfriend for me."
I looked at Bill with wide eyes, waiting for him to say he was joking, but I knew he was not. Molly had come to me with the same speech before.
Bill's eyes lit up as he looked at me.
"Go on a date with me."
I laughed loudly before I looked at Bill and saw he was serious. "Bill, we're just friends, I love you, but just as a friend and nothing else."
"No, I mean, let's go out, but like pretending we're dating." He explained and I rose an eyebrow.
"What do I get out of this arrangement, Weasley?"
Bill laughed heartily "Number 1: you get to spend time with me, which is a gift. Number 2: maybe this will give Carter the little push he needs to ask you out."
I stuttered a little before I managed to regain my composure. "Why would I want Carter to ask me out?"
"A great question really, I don't see anything that special about him either," Bill said, and I felt myself getting angry but took a deep breath before I ended up jinxing Bill.
"I'll have you know he's a great guy, and he's hilariously funny."
Bill snorted loudly. "With a face like that, he better be damn funny." I hit him two times with my bag, and Bill laughed. "Alright, I won't say a word about him again. But do we have a deal or what?"
And just then, I did something so completely stupid and irrational.
