"Hand over those creatures, and no one else gets hurt today," Alucard growled, his fangs glinting in the dim light.

I stared him down, my own fangs bared in response. "First rule about me," I began, my voice steady but filled with a simmering rage. "I take orders from no one."

Alucard chuckled, a cold, mirthless sound that sent a chill down my spine. "So be it." His body began to lift off the ground, his eyes glowing an ominous, permanent red.

I quickly handed Vanity to Valentine. "Run," I mind-linked her, my voice urgent in her head.

She hesitated, her eyes filled with worry.

"Now!" I barked in her mind.

Valentine took off, sprinting with the twins, and I motioned for Lucinda and Lorraine to follow her. My sisters hesitated for a moment before obeying, leaving me to face Alucard alone.

"I will catch up to them," Alucard said calmly, his eyes tracking their movements. "And your venom is not lethal to me, hybrid." He snickered, and a sword materialized beside him.

"Who said anything about using venom?" I replied, my voice low and dangerous.

In a swift motion, I rolled over and grabbed a gun from beneath a table, firing a shot directly at his head. To my shock, he caught the bullet with his bare hand, smirking as he did.

"Really? A gun?" He mocked, his tone dripping with condescension. "I may have overestimated your abilities. If only I knew you were so fucking weak!"

His taunts fueled my anger. I charged toward him, my vampire speed giving me an edge, wings bursting from my back as I tackled him. We crashed through a window, the glass shattering around us like rain, and tumbled to the ground below.

We landed hard, and instantly, the pack surrounded us, their bodies shifting into their wolf forms, their growls filling the air.

"Where were you minutes ago when we needed you in the nursery?" I growled under my breath, frustration boiling over.

"How cute," Alucard laughed, clearly amused by the sight. "Stand in my way again, and I will show no mercy," he promised, his voice cold and devoid of emotion.

"Enough!" A commanding voice cut through the chaos.

We both turned to see Laverna, my mother, standing there, flanked by Valentine, the twins, and my half-sisters. My heart clenched at the sight of them all together. Had they summoned her?

"Hello, mother," Alucard greeted with a mocking tone. "Or do you prefer Laverna now?" His words were laced with venom. What does he mean by that?

She didn't respond immediately, her eyes filled with a mix of sadness and regret. "Catchy, I'd say, but I still preferred your name. It's sad that you changed it, Mina Harker." He continued, his words cutting deeper. "Now, look at the monstrosity you have created," he said, gesturing towards me.

"Adrian, listen to me—" she started, her voice pleading.

"You broke Father's heart for this?" He interrupted, pointing at me with disdain.

"I did what I had to do," Laverna—no, Mina—replied, her voice steady but her eyes glistening with unshed tears.

Alucard scoffed, dismissing her words as if they were meaningless. "Hand them over," he demanded, pointing at the babies in Valentine's arms.

"You are outnumbered," I warned, my voice steady despite the rage boiling inside me.

"No, brother," he said with a shake of his head. "You are."
