When I woke up the next morning, I was alone in bed. I sat up straight, disappointed that Taehyung didn't wake me up. I quickly got out of bed when he came into the bedroom, already dressed in black, with a chest holster that held two knives and two rifles, and who knows how many more holsters in his limbs with more weapons. "Are you leaving now?"
He grimaced. "Cube killed one of my men. They left his body parts around one of our clubs. He was killed by mutilation"
"Someone I know?" I asked scared. Taehyung shook his head. "Are the police going to be involved?"
"Not if I can handle it." Taehyung cupped his hands over my face. "I'll try to get home early, okay?"
I nodded. He lowered his head, watching me for a while to see if I really let him go. His lips touched mine. I opened my mouth for him and sank into the kiss, but too soon. I watched his back as he left. Then I grabbed my smartphone and called Dahyun.
"I thought you'd never call," were the first words out of his mouth.
I smile. "I haven't even showered yet, and it was just to call you."
"You didn't call yesterday. I was sick with worry. I couldn't sleep because of you. I hate that we're so far apart and I can't see for myself if you're okay. Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine." I told him about the conversation I had with Taehyung and how we spent together yesterday.
"How nice of him to not cheat on you again and actually try to fuck you. Just give your virginity to him. You're too stupid to believe him!"
"He's not a good person, Dahyun. There are no good people in our world. But I think he really wants to try to keep his promise. And I want it too."
"Why don't you ask him if I can come visit for a few days? I'm off school for two weeks and I'm tired of going out without you. We can spend a few days at the beach and go shopping in the capital."
"What about Dad? Have you asked him for permission?"
"He told me to ask you and Taehyung."
"I'll ask him. I'm sure he won't mind. This penthouse is not at all like our crowded house. Almost every day I'm alone with Hoshi."
"Why don't you ask Taehyung if you can go to college? You have perfect marks. You will have no trouble getting into the top universities there."
"What for? I won't be allowed to work when I graduate from college. Too dangerous."
"You can help taehyy and his organization. You can be his secretary or whatever. You'd be crazy if you stayed in that penthouse all the time."
"Don't worry, I'll be fine," I said, though I wasn't really sure. Dahyun was right. "I'll talk to Taehyung about your visit. Now I really need to take a shower and have breakfast"
"Call me as soon as possible. I need to book a ticket in advance"
I smile. "Yeah I'll call you as soon as possible. Don't get into trouble with dad, if you don't want your vacation to be cancelled."
"Yes"
I hung up. Then I got ready and put on a summer dress. It's sunny outside and I want to walk around Central Park. When I stepped into the living room, Hoshi was sitting at the dining table drinking coffee in front of him.
"Is Taehyung really mad at you?” I asked as I walked past him into the kitchen. Aunt's sandwich was placed on the table and I could hear Aunt humming somewhere. He's probably cleaning the penthouse. Hoshi got up, grabbed his cup and leaned against the kitchen wall. "He was angry. You could have been killed. I should have protected you."
"What is Taehyung doing today?"
Hoshi shook his head.
"What is he doing? I want to know the details. Why does he carry so many weapons with him?"
"He, Jimin and several others will find the people who killed our people and then they will take revenge."
"Sounds very dangerous." A hint of worry filled my mind. Revenge is never the end. And cube will take revenge again on Taehyung. It is a story that will never end.
"Taehyung and Jimin are used to it, they are the best, so are the people with them."
"And you're not having fun with them, and you have to look after me instead."
Hoshi shrugged, then he smiled. "It's an honor to be able to look after the wife of the future leader of the Familia."
I rolled my eyes. "I want to jog around Central Park."
"Are you going to try to run away again?"
"Why should I try to escape again? There's nowhere I can turn to. And I doubt you'll ever let me run away again. You look quite alert."
Hoshi straightened up. "Okay, I'll accompany you" I know that he's still suspicious of me, he's suspicious if I try to run away.
I put on my shorts, tank top and running shoes, then left the room. Hoshi has changed into sweatpants and a t-shirt. He kept his clothes in one of the guest bedrooms, but actually he lived in an apartment about ten minutes from here. "Where did you hide your weapon?"
"secret" he said with a grin, then his face returned to a level and it was his professional face as a bodyguard.
Hoshi was quick and was able to easily follow me as we walked through the many jogging trails in Central Park for an hour. It feels good to walk outside in Central Park. I feel free and almost as if I'm like most people who do mundane things like walking their dog or playing basketball. Maybe Taehyung will accompany me one day when the Hebi people don't give him much more trouble. When is it? I don't know I don't know either.
.
.
That day I sat on the terrace watching the sun go down. Hoshi was checking his cellphone. "Looks like Taehyung will have a lot of free time for you."
I looked at him. Do I seem lonely without Taehyung? "Did he tell you when he would be home today?"
"He hasn't messaged me yet," he said quietly.
"That's a bad sign, isn't it?"
Hoshi didn't say anything, just frowned as he gripped his phone.
I entered the penthouse when it was too cold outside, aku mengenakan baju tidurku dan meringkuk di sofa, turn on the TV. Aqua couldn't help but worry as it was almost midnight, but I ended up falling asleep.
