Her silky brunette hair falls effortlessly over her shoulders as we lay entangled between the sheets. Sculpted curves engulf my vision, tempting me to take hold. The soft beams of light rolled through the curtains, coating her beauty with a golden glow. Her pure heart shines through her sleeping mind as her perfection started to unsettle.
Leaning forward, I planted a kiss on her forehead whilst I ran my thumb over her smooth, flawless cheek. Grumbling as she awakened, a small smile enveloped her shimmering features as she placed her gaze on me. "How long have you been watching me sleep?"
"Not long enough." Sliding off the bed, I picked my top up off the floor. Placing my arms in, I pushed it over my head and swiped my messy hair to the side.
"Do you really have to go?" Leaning back over the bed, I lowered my face.
Pressing my lips against hers one last time, I closed my eyes to savour the moment. "Yes." Opening my eyes again, I took in her saddened look. "I have to. You know I do, we can't take anymore risks. Not after the last three days of near misses." Peeling my body from the bed, I grabbed my shorts and put them on.
"But, please just stay. It's our last morning here. We're going home in a few hours. Please?" She gave me her cutest face, bribing me to stay. She almost had me going but I had to fight the urge to give in.
"I'm sorry, not taking anymore chances. I've got to get back before she wakes up." Moving towards her door, I turned back to face her. "I love you."
"I love you too."
Closing the door, I took the two steps towards my door and twisted the handle slowly. Stepping inside, I crept to my bed and jumped onto the bottom bunk. Naomi was still fast asleep on the other set of bunk beds against the opposite wall. Soft snores escaped the plain white duvet which coated her curled up body.
Looking around my room, I was grateful that I no longer had to be trapped by these dull, eye-scorching walls. The simplicity of this room hurts me, it's just painfully boring. White walls, white metal beds, white covers, blue carpet and brown doors.
Looking over to the en-suite bathroom, I decided that I'd jump in before Naomi even gets the chance to. But right now, I just need to lay here for a while.
Slipping my legs underneath my covers, I took a moment to think of my Mum. To properly acknowledge her and this trip.
All I had done for the past few days was try to forget about the anniversary, it's so unreal that it's been over a week since I last heard her voice. So much has happened in such a short amount of time. My whole life has changed, maybe for the better or maybe for the worst, but it has changed. Dramatically.
If you told me a few weeks ago that I would be sat on a plane to Italy, kissing my insanely beautiful Geography teacher. Have her almost lynch a flight attendant over me. Spend three nights in a hotel room with her, to go home and spend my days and my nights with her. To have her living with me, loving me... I would've probably laughed in your face and told you to go get some form of psychiatric help.
But here I am. Sneaking into my room after coming out of Miss Evans's bed. Not exactly how I originally planned to spend my trip to Italy. Although I had originally planned to phone my Mum every chance I got to tell her what its like.
Plans don't always work out how you want them too. When I was old enough, I wanted to bring her here on holiday. My debt to her for being such a pain. I wanted to bring her to the one place I knew she always wanted to visit but I guess, I came here for the both of us. Maybe I'll come back? I mean, I'd come back just to go up Mount Vesuvius again.
From here, the view of the famous volcano on the horizon is enough to get your adrenaline pumping. Just knowing that there is even a slight possibility of it erupting, sets your heart on edge.
