"Akira, no, I can't do this," Kindaichi said to his boyfriend. "Yuutarou, it's going to be ok, I promise," Kunimi said. "But Akira...," Kindaichi started. "Yuu, you can't just leave now we are already here and inside," Kunimi stated. Kindaichi knew deep down he was right. They were both certainly sitting in Kindaichi old room, Kindaichi was having doubts about coming out to his parents. "What if they don't accept me?" Kindaichi said. "Yuu, we have had conversations countless times about LGBTQ+ topics so that we could see how this would go down, and you know as well as I do, that they are supportive of the community, it will go fine I promise," Kunimi reassured him. "Ok," Kindaichi said softly. Kunimi got up off the bed and held his hands out to his boyfriend. Kindaichi grabbed them and got pulled into a hug. "Let's go, ok?" Kunimi said.
They walked out of the room and back to the living area. Kindaichi took a deep breath.
"Are you ok?" His mom questioned. "Yeah..." Kindaichi said. They both sat back on the couch, Kunimi held on to his hand. "Mom... dad... I-" Kindaichi froze up again. Kunimi squeezed his hand, Kindaichi looked over to the boy next to him. "I'm here for you," Kunimi whispered. Kindaichi could tell him meant it. "You're?" His dad questioned. "I'm trans and pan," Kindaichi said, with some confidence. His parents just sat there taking in the information and expanding glances with each other. Kindaichi squeezed Kunimi's hand.
"Is that it?" His mom asked, with a confused look. "Yes it is?" Kindaichi said with a questioning tone. "Son, we have been knowing that, it was obvious back in high school, plus one of your teachers asked for a 'Yuutarou Kindaichi' before," his dad said. "We didn't question it, because you would have told us yourself when you were ready," his mom added. "Why do you think we started calling you, Kin? We didn't want to use your deadname and we didn't want to startle you if we called you Yuutarou," his dad stated. Kindaichi let out a breath that he didn't he was holding. "We love you son, even if you are gay, pan, bi, or trans, you are still our child, and we will be there for you no matter what," his mom said. "See i told you," Kunimi said, then added, "You have amazing parents Yuu."
