— "Come on Tails, we need to be going! We said we'd meet Amy today at Green Hills!" A muffled voice urged from behind the door. There was another pounding knock.
— The fox cub grumbled something unintelligible and rolled onto his side. Tails didn't know why he was so tired. He hadn't stayed up late working on a machine or anything last night. In fact, he had gotten just the right amount of sleep.
— So why was he so tired? Not only that but he was forming a splitting headache.
— "Tails?" The voice called in concern to his lack of response. The fox pulled himself out of bed and opened the door.
— Sonic stood there in the doorway, his hand raised in mid knock. He was wearing a light overcoat, with a picnic basket in one hand. He looked at the fox in front of him and suddenly looked concern. "Are you ok? You look really tired."
— Tails yawned widely, his eyes watering. "Yeah, yeah. I guess I didn't sleep well." He managed to say.
— "Oh- well you don't have to come if you're not up to it." Sonic assured him.
— "No no, it's fine. I'll be fine. What are we doing again today?"
— "Oh, Amy invited as to have a picnic in Green Hills, remember?"
— "Oh yeah. Give me a second and I'll be ready." Tails said, shutting the door softly. He flicked on the light and gasped.
— The room was wrecked. His desk had been overturned and papers had been scattered around, shredded almost. His bed frame was sagging, almost touching the floor. Clothes, supplies, his tool box, everything was either trashed or lying on the floor.
— What happened!? Did someone break in? How did he not hear them? How did Sonic not hear them?
— Picking his way through the room, Tails made his way to the closet. Luckily, his belt and a light jacket were both fine. He attached the belt, pulled the coat on, and grabbed his phone. Before he left, he glanced back in confusion. This couldn't have been an intruder, that just didn't make sense to him. So what had caused this destruction? Had it been him?
— But Tails wasn't that strong. Sure he was strong enough for most things but not this much destruction.
— Gently, the fox sighed and left the room, shutting the door tightly. Sonic was still waiting in the hall, but he had been on his phone, distracted. When he heard the door shut, he looked up.
— "Whoa, what's wrong?" He asked.
— Tails looked at him. "Hm?"
— "You looked concerned."
— "Oh erm, nothing. Just... eh I'll tell you later. Let's get going." He hastily pushed along. The fox walked to the front door quickly. He wasn't sure he wanted to tell Sonic, but he needed to know if the hedgehog had heard anything last night.
— The two began the walk to Green Hills (not living that far from it), the fall air biting at their faces. "Sonic did you hear anything... strange last night in the house?" The fox eventually asked.
— "Uh no. I wasn't in the house last night. Remember, I said I was going for a run."
— Now that he had mentioned it, the hedgehog had said that before Tails went to sleep. Why hadn't he remembered that? Actually, thinking about it, there was a lot that he couldn't remember from last night.
— "Tails, are you sure you're alright?" Sonic asked. His little brother looked back at him. The hedgehog had stopped altogether and looked concerned. Worried even.
— "I don't think I slept well last night. It's making me groggy and I'm forgetting things." He murmured. "Nothing a little nap won't fix."
— Tails just kept walking. "Whatever you say, little dude."
— Eventually they made it to Green Hills. Amy was sitting on a blanket a larger picnic basket on it, a light over coat tied around her waist. Despite the small bitter cold, she didn't care in her sleeveless dress. She had been preoccupied with something and it took Sonic calling her name for her to react. "Oh hey guys!"
— The two walked over. The blue hedgehog sat the picnic basket down. "Oh, what did you bring?"
— "Oh just some chips and fruit. I did bring a couple of drinks too." He explained setting the basket down.
— "Awesome, thanks! I kinda forgot to grab those. Though I did bring sandwiches and dessert. Anyway..." but Tails didn't hear the rest of it. It was replaced with a ringing sound as the pain in his headache skyrocketed. His vision swam and the fox felt nauseous. Why was he feeling this way? Was he coming down with something?
— Suddenly, there was a thundering boom sound, snapping him back to reality. Sonic and Amy were already on their feet. "What was that?" He asked.
— "Not sure, but whatever it is let's go check it out." The blue hedgehog instructed. Soon they were off, following after the continuous sounds of booms.
— Amy had summoned her Piko Piko hammer once they'd arrived at the scene of the sound. Batniks were everywhere, digging into the ground and collecting a strange mineral. They halted everything when the three heroes arrived.
— "Why have you stopped!? I didn't ordered you-" Eggman's voice rang out, but stopped mid-way. He was in his little egg-mobile and had flown out stopping in front of this part of Team Sonic.
— "Should've figured it was you, egghead." Sonic tsked smirking.
— The doctor grumbled. "And of course you have to come and ruin the fun. I can't have any fun, can I?"
— "Not when you're damaging nature for no apparent reason." Amy blandly pointed out, leaning against her hammer.
— "It is not for no reason! I'm looking for a new fuel source for something I've been working on, if you must know." Eggman snapped.
— "Well, hate to break it to you but we can't really let you get away with that!" Sonic exclaimed. The fighting started not to long after that. Tails swiped with his tails and knocked back several batniks. But his energy was draining fast.
— The fox dropped out of the air, suddenly unconscious.
