A Big Decision

"Uhh? Why are you soaking wet?"

Percy was standing on the front porch of Cabin Ten drenched in water. There was a puddle at his feet.

Percy looked down at his clothes, seemingly surprised to notice that he was dripping water.

"Oh. I had to help Bessie." He said. Seeing the confused look on her face he continued, I'll explain later. We don't have time."

Now Cassie was really confused. Time? Time for what?

"What are you talking about Percy? It's like six in the morning. Breakfast isn't until 8:30. We have plenty of time."

"No no! I'm not talking about breakfast! Just trust me!"

"Well—"

"Just hurry up, okay? Change out of your pajamas, grab your sword and stuff and come outside. I'll just wait out here."

Percy closed the door in Cassie's face and left her to follow his strange instructions.

She wasn't sure what she was supposed to be dressing for, so when in doubt, layer. It never hurt to be overdressed. Cassie also noticed that Percy didn't have a hat or gloves or a sweatshirt, so she threw an extra pair into her bag. She also tossed in the sweatshirt she had borrowed from Percy and hadn't had a chance to return. Once she was changed and had grabbed Heartbreaker, her knives, and Annabeth's hat, Cassie walked back outside.

Percy was pacing like a crazy person.

"So, will you tell me what's going on now?"

"Just be quiet and follow me."

"Hey! Don't tell me to be quiet!"

Percy ignored her and pulled her along by the wrist. He led Cassie to the dining area.

"Percy. I told you that breakfast isn't until 8:30! Did Melanie mess with your alarm clock again?"

"Ssshhhh!" said Percy, being louder than Cassie.

He dramatically slapped a hand over Cassie's mouth and motioned for her to follow behind him.

They were coming up the steps behind Nico. He didn't see them at all. He was behind a column, peeking around the corner, all his attention focused on the dining area. Cassie was five feet away from him, and she was about to say What are you doing? real loud, when it occurred to her that he was pulling a Grover: he was spying on the Hunters.

There were voices—two girls talking at one of the dining tables. At this ungodly hour of the morning? Well, unless you're the goddess of dawn.

Cassie took Annabeth's magic cap out of her pocket and put it on. She turned to Percy who didn't have anything to hide himself with.

"Do you think we can shove both of our heads in it?"

"I don't know," Percy said taking the hat off of Cassie's head. He loosened it all the way and smooshed in on their heads.

Cassie had never been this close to Percy before. She noticed that he kind of smelled like the beach. Or maybe that was just his wet hair that was suspiciously close to her nose.

Cassie didn't feel any different, but when she looked at Percy she couldn't see him. They were invisible.

It was kind of difficult to walk in unison with someone you couldn't see. Percy managed to step on Cassie's foot more times than she could count, and she kept bumping into him. Every time she accidentally knocked shoulders with him, Percy would jab at Cassie with his elbow. This caused Cassie to reach out blindly in an attempt to pinch Percy. Needless to say, they were an interesting duo.
