A Tour of the Mind

There are many masks under which I hide,

The real me having been put away long ago.

Now, I'll whisk you away through my mind for a ride.

Here we go.

*

First, is the Well of Sadness and Tears.

It is here where the bottled up feelings appear.

Now wait a minute while the fog slowly clears,

We are now on our way to the Cavern of Fear.

*

Here dwell the things that go bump in the night

The monsters under the bed

And other things that give one great fright.

If you leave them alone they won't harm a hair on your head

*

But give them good cause

And they'll give you good reason to fear

And question you sanity's flaws.

Oh, look we're here.

*

These are the Fires of Rage.

Don't lean too close or you may burn.

(Hn, wouldn't I make a wonderful sage?)

Selfishness sings its song of scorn.

*

But now onto a more... peaceful place:

The Sea of Hope

Is what you face.

(Don't lean too far you dope!)

*

(Quick to a new place before they all fall in!)

You can now see the Clouds of Joy,

So light they don't know a drop of sin.

(They stay out of reach. So coy.)

*

There the smiles

As bright as the sun

That can be seen for miles

Are spun.

*

Alas our tour is almost done.

I have one place left for you to see.

And I ask one favor. Just one.

Ignore the need to flee.

*

This is the place where I have hid

For so many years past and even more to come

To you, welcome I bid

To my home.

*

This is the Prison I keep.

Now back to your own minds,

I need to sleep.

And keep it quiet, your new finds.
