It was the next day when all the Egerton's went to the garage for work. When Irene saw the inside, she noticed it was a little dusty and there were a few things that didn't belong in a mechanic's garage, but she didn't complain. She helped clean the garage up a bit, and Johnny along with Matthew thanked her. And with that, they opened the garage doors to let people know that business was open.
It wasn't busy but a few animals had come into the garage with car issues. Irene watched Matthew and Johnny fix the cars and came to understand what parts of the cars there are, how it works, and what tools to use to fix them. But it was a little boring at times. So, she looked around the garage to see if she could find a radio to listen to music, but couldn't find one. She sighed, giving up her search, and looked around to find anything but seeing there was nothing to do, she headed to the couch and sat down.
She hummed and patted the couch in a rhythmic beat for a few minutes then Johnny came in with a bottle of water. "Hey Irene, what's wrong?"
She turned to face Johnny. "Nothing. Just a little bored." She shrugged. "I tried to find a radio so I can listen to some music, but I couldn't find one."
"Oh sorry. I guess we haven't been keeping up with the garage." He chuckled. "By the way, here's some water. It can get a bit stuffy here." Irene smiled then took the bottle and drank a little. "Thanks." She said.
"No problem." He replied.
Suddenly, Irene remembered what happened yesterday with Johnny. She furrowed her eyebrows.
"Hey Johnny, can I ask you something?" Irene asked.
"Sure." He said and sat next to her. "What is it?"
"Why did you act all weird yesterday when we saw Ash back at the ice cream place? I know you and Ash seem like good friends, but yesterday you seemed way out of character." Johnny realized that he was acting funny yesterday. In fact, so out of character that Irene had to kick him under a table to snap out of it.
"Oh... was it obvious?" He asked sheepishly.
Irene nodded. "WAAY obvious."
He groaned and hid his face with his hands and dragging them down his face. Irene raised a confused eyebrow. "Soo... are you gonna tell me what's wrong, or do I have to assume things?" She asked, her expression not leaving her face.
"It's just... back at the movies when you told Dad about the little dance party and how I was dancing with Ash... I don't know! I just felt embarrassed suddenly, and it only worsened when Dad asked if Ash was my girlfriend, and when he said he wanted grandkids. I just wanted to die right there." He said then slumped.
Irene looked at him wide eyed and whistled slowly. "Yikes. I get it. Listen, there are times when your parents might embarrass you. I get that. But that means they love you." She said, patting his back with an assuring hand.
They both heard a honk and looked outside to see Rosita with her 21 kids. They both walked out while Rosita and her kids got off. "Rosita! What are you doing here?" Irene asked happily, and a little surprised to see that she had 21 kids.
She let out a breath while the kids started clamoring in the garage. "Hey Irene. Hey Johnny." She gave a tired wave to him, then leaned against her car. "I was just out with my kids but something's wrong with my car and I saw this garage, so I came here."
