The Diamond Case

Homeroom. The only class I can relax in. Thankfully, you don't get a grade in homeroom, so all I have to do is make sure to get my chromebook, fill out my agenda, do the morning work, and say that I'm here. Oh, and say good-morning to my teacher, Ms. Cutter. I know you don't get participation points for saying good-morning, but Ms. Cutter is SOOOOOOO nice to me! She always treats me better, and you might think that that is unfair to the other kids, and I always tell her that she doesn't need to do this for me, but she just says that it's OK! Well, too much talking, more working. I only have two more things to do, but the only person that slows me down is SETH. He's in some of my classes, like math, and science. But at homeroom he sits next to me! Oh, I just can't stop staring! He's soooooooo dreamy! You might think that this is a good time to talk to him, but his friends are ALWAYS around him, like always. They're even in the same classes! Welp, finally finished all my work. Time to get to, uhhhh what was it again? Oh yes, math.

When I get to math, I'm late. Of course. The teacher (I don't even know her name, and she just calls me "The F girl"), shouts at me and gives me a detention slip, even though I was only 30 seconds late! You see, the math teacher and I have a weird bond. She knows my parents, so she sometimes comes over for dinner. But when she is out of school, she is nice to me! I have no idea why. Today we're learning about decimals, which don't even make sense. I mean, who even has the time to care about what 1.52 is rounded to the first decimal place? I don't hear what the teacher is saying, because, as you know, Seth is in my math class! Maddie sits next to me in math class, and she passes me a note saying, "Hi Em! I have good news!!!! THEY BROKE UP!!!! THEY BROKE UP!!!! SETH AND CHLOE BROKE UP!!!" I pass a note back saying, "OK, OK GEESH! I KNOW NOW!" You might think that I should be more excited, and I am! I just want to seem calm, not a crazy person that will do anything to be Seth's girlfriend! Ok, well, I actually am like that, but only Rose knows about that. Oh, math finally is over! I didn't finish my worksheet, but I'll just stuff it in my backpack and throw it away at home.

Next, P.E. P.E. is not my favorite specials, but it's fun. Today we are playing.............DODGEBALL. I hate dodgeball. I'm so bad at it, and I don't think that hitting people with balls is fun. Plus, everyone is so competitive, half of the time they just argue. Maddie and Alyssa are both NOT in this class(which is SO SAD), so I usually just hangout at the back of the gym until class is over. But today is different. THERE IS ANOTHER GIRL AT THE BACK OF THE GYM!!!!!!!! I walk over to the back, and realize it's Liz! I had no idea Liz was in this class! "Hey, Liz," I say. I decide not to tell Liz about them breaking up yet, because I still want to seem calm. "What are you doing at the back of the gym? And when were you in the same P.E. class as me?"

"Well, I kinda was getting bullied by some girls in my old special class, so the principal made me change classes."

"Oh. Well now you're in the same class as me! Who were those girls?"

"I don't really know, I only know that the girl leading the other girls was named Lena."

"Well, did they get detention or something?"

"Nope. I'm pretty sure Lena is the superintendent's daughter."

"O-" I topple over, causing me to faceplant into the gym floor. Looks like I got out, and of course, the boys that hit me are laughing. I say bye to Liz and walk over to the out zone. Since no one in my team is good, I stay there until the end of class. RINNNNNGGGGG!!!!

Ahhhhh, the last class till lunch. I need to tell Rose about them breaking up! This class is STEAM, and Maddie and Alyssa are BOTH in that class! I LOVE STEAM, because the teacher lets us sit wherever we want when we read, and she lets us talk! Not very loudly, of course, but at least we get to whisper! When I get to STEAM, Mad and Alice (Those are my nicknames for them), are already there, and they motion for me to come over. When I reach where we are gonna read, Alyssa starts whispering, "Omigosh, we might actually have a chance to be Seth's friends!" Even though Mad and Alice have a crush on him too, they really agree that I should be his girlfriend. The teacher tells us to start reading, so I pull out my The School for Good and Evil book and start reading, even though it's really hard to concentrate with Seth in my mind. After a while, the teacher tells us to put away our books, and we file out of the classroom.

While we walk to lunch, Liz comes over. "Hey, Liz! Did you hear that SETH AND CHLOE BROKE UP!?!?!?!?!?" I shout.

"Yes, yes, I did. But I don't really think he's for me now."

"Oh. Well-"

"I see him, I see him!" Mad says excitedly. I look to my side, expecting him to be surrounded by his buddies, BUT HE'S NOT! Mad and Alice basically shove me towards him, so I have no choice but to go. "H-hey," I stammer.

"Hey. Em, right?" Seth says casually. OMIGOSH HE KNOWS MY NAME!

"Yea. Y-you look sad, what h-happened?

"Oh, nothing big. Just the bossy Chloe dumping me."

"Oh, t-that's sad."

"Nah, not really. She was really bossy anyways. Welp, gotta go, see ya around?"

"Y-yea, bye."

I run back to Mad, Alice, and Liz, smiling like my face was gonna explode. I was gonna celebrate, but then we realized we had to get to lunch, otherwise all the food was gonna be gone, and we had to get a seat next to Rose.
