"Ok kids, since today is the first time of Apogee Quest this year, I don't want to pressure you very much right now. So, today I just want you to maybe chat, get to know each other a little better, things like that. But, if you have some kind of work you want to work on, go ahead! I'll be over there by the big willow tree if you need any help or have any questions! Ms. Bun happily said, taking her time to walk over to the big willow tree.
"So, Em. We have A LOT to catch up on for the necklace case. The good thing is, we have a lot of time to work on it. The bad thing is, Patricia has tricks up her sleeve, and we can't let her hear our plans. I've made a board of all the good tactics we could use to get our necklaces back. I'm pretty sure dad said we will be leaving next week to England, where supposedly the necklaces were last seen. We can work on it in England, but then we will have less time to get the necklaces. My plan is to know what we will do in England, then think of all the possibilities, and think of a solution for each one. Got it?" Rose informed me.
"Uhhhhhhhhh......... Don't you think that that is a little bit too much information for me to take in? I have a small brain, you know."
"True, but we are nearly leaving. It's already good that the teachers aren't gonna make us make up the work we will be missing, so we need to work super hard on this case."
"Ok. You can say anything now. I'll just shut up."
"Em, you can't goof around now, this is serious business! Plus, if we don't get the necklaces back, dad will probably be so sad, he'll end up like mom. I know you don't want that to happen."
"I wasn't goofing around! Geesh Rose, I'll be serious now. I wasn't even goofing around anyway." I quietly said before Rose knew. Rose gave me her glare, so of course, I shut up. Rose started showing me her board of good tactics, blah blah blah. I knew this was serious stuff, but still. It was still TOO BORING!!!!! I think Rose figured out that I wasn't listening, so she made me list possible scenarios and find a solution to them. Oki, so, one possible scenario is you could be trapped in a trap. That's a good one, right? Alright, good start! I look over to see what Rose is writing, but she quickly moves her arm so I can't see. Ugh. Of course she wants me to focus on what I'm doing, not her. Welp, a solution would maybe be,.............. I NEED TO GO PEE!!!!!!!!!! I'M BUSTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I scramble over to the porta potty, but trip over a tree branch. And that makes me pee my pants. Which makes everyone look my way. Which makes me embarrass myself in front of Seth. Which, which, WHICH RUINS EVERYTHING!!!!!!! I burst into tears(which I don't usually do), and Rose shot me a glare, meaning either that she's saying I don't want to be involved in this, or Why are you such a baby? I'm guessing she meant the second one, so I run to the porta potty and lock the lock. It stinks, but anything is better than embarrassing myself in front of Seth. Oh, why did I burst into tears? WHY!?!?!?!?!?!? I cry in silence for about 3 minutes, but it feels like years. The scene keeps on replaying in my head, reminding me about it. It's like my brain wants me to keep crying!!
When Ms. Bun comes outside of the porta potty and tells me that class ended, I finally come out. There's no one here, so I scream as loud as I can.
"AGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Ms. Bun looks startled, so I say sorry.
"No, no, it's fine. You can stay as long as you want here. I'll be here till 9." I didn't really feel like going home, so I stayed. Turns out, Ms. Bun is a pretty fun person! At her wood desk, she has a secret compartment that holds 500 million Warheads! I ate 20, so I'm pretty hyper. I was planning to leave when Ms. Bun leaves, but I got a text from dad. I groan, but I'm curious what it is, so I take a look.
Emily Emerald Potter. Not a good start to he text, but I think it'll get better. You are needed right now. I have no idea where you have been, or what you have been doing, but Rose had an accident. A serious one, too. She wasn't having a good day, so I told her she could take a hike out in the woods. I don't know what got into me, because I would never let any of you two alone out into the woods, but I did. She was sitting on a hill, looking down at the road. She fell. Then a car drove over her. We don't know how she fell, but we do know that the person who drove over her was doing it on purpose. Please come to the hospital. Your twin needs you. Wha............................... Oh, boy. I start crying, and Ms. Bun asks me what's wrong.
"My.... My twin, R-Rose. S-she had a m-major accident. I-I want to g-go to the h-hospital, but i-it's 2 miles a-away."
"Oh, honey. It's going to be ok. I'll drive you there." I quietly sit in Ms. Bun's car, staring at my hands. Why was I so mean? I should've been with Rose. It's not like I could've saved her, but at least I wouldn't not be there for her. We drive to the hospital in silence. When we get there, I run out, and go to the receptionist. "Excuse m-me, d-do you k-know the g-girl t-t-t-t-that fell o-off a-a h-hill?" As you can see, I'm in a major stuttering fit.
"Oh, you must be the girl that that guy was talking about. Room 109, third floor."
"T-thanks."
I hurry to the elevator, planning to just go on the elevator, go to the third floor, and then go to room 109. But, turns out, There are a lot of people getting on and off the elevator, so there's a big line. I wait. And wait. And wait. And wait. And wait. And wait. And wait. Ugh. This line is never gonna end. I look around, and SEE ANOTHER ELEVATOR RIGHT NEXT TO IT!!!!! WITH NO LINE!!!! I'M SO DUMB!!!!!! I get on the elevator and get to the third floor. I find room 109, and carefully go in. Oh. My. Goodness. Just seeing Rose makes me cry. She's on a bed, with her head, both arms, and her left leg in a cast. There's also a lot of needles and strings on her. I run out of the room, and have a meltdown outside. So many people are staring, but I don't care. I remember all the good times we had together, and then I remember how I was sometimes so mean to her. It all just makes me cry. I try to control my feelings, and attempt to go in again. Deep breaths. It's gonna be okay, Em. It's gonna be okay.
