My rating : ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5 stars)
~ My synopsis ~
The novel takes place in a world where you are notified that in the next 24 hours, you will die. People who will die in the course of a day are called Deckers. The story focuses on two Deckers who meet on The Last Friend app - Mateo and Rufus. Both boys know that by the end of the day : they will both die. Determined to live life with no regrets, they experience everything they never will in a single day.
~ My Review ~
One of the reasons I love this book so much is because, it stays true to the title. Even when I expected Mateo and Rufus to die from the beginning, I find myself on the verge of tears when their deaths finally came. I believe this is because Adam Silvera has written this book so well that reading it is like experiencing the day with the characters.
The romance between Mateo and Rufus was so sweet and wholesome : it was everything that Love is meant to be, and knowing that it was going to be cut so short was indeed painful (but I am all for doomed love of any kind).
Furthermore, the different PoV's from different characters were amazing parts of world building. It was super interesting to see how different people deal with the Death Calls and how the Calls affect the remainder of their lives along with the people around them. The different side plots were definitely refreshing and, in my opinion, were just as interesting as the main plot.
In conclusion, I believe that this novel lives up to its hype, it absolutely does deserve ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐. I loved reading every single second of it. I loved the idea of Death Cast, the idea of knowing the day you will die is a thought-provoking concept. Furthermore, I absolutely loved the characters, Mateo being my favourite, all the characters felt so real and relatable.
'They Both Die At The End' : such a wholesome and heart-wrenching story - had me on the verge of tears at the end. Will be one of my all time favourites for a very long time, I've never read something quite like it.
