"Hurry up, we're gonna be late and miss everything!" Jesse worried, tapping their foot on the floor like a petulant child.
"And whose fault is that, Princess?" Devon hummed, an eyebrow raised at the small bundle of chaos with pink hair and a deep frown. "Who was the person who napped through their second alarm, demanded they eat before showering, then spent half an hour watching tv in their towel rather than get dressed?".
"Dunno, not me" they said before pointing at poor, sweet and unassuming Quinn. "He's the one that took a work call for twenty minutes".
"Don't bring me into this, Pinkie Pie" Quinn teased, then barked a laugh at Jesse's look of horror and retaliation slap to the arm.
"No, nope, you agreed to never call me that again. Promised, actually".
"I changed my mind, Pinkie".
"You can't just 'change your mind'" they mocked in a deep tone, "when it comes to promises! That's, like... illegal. Yeah, it's illegal by the Lovers Code!".
Here the two grown children went again, egging each other towards a pointless battle while the only sane one among them stood with his arms crossed. Before the two could cause a scene in the car park, Devon took Quinn's hand and wrapped an arm around Jesse's shoulders as some sort of peace intervention.
"If you can't behave like good members of society, you can wait in the damn car" he warned, to which Quinn smothered an amused chuckle. Jesse blushed though, their heart speeding up at the oldest of the trio's dark tone and undeniably sexy scowl. They actually preferred pissing him off just to get that gaze aimed their way.
With no more quarrelling between the three, they walked into the building and smiled at the sight that greeted them. The hall had been set up with different stalls, some offering information on various topics, activities of the evening, or the more boring but helpful business promotions. Others held products for purchase or free samples, ranging from mundane items like clothing, trinkets, decorative pieces. The majority though held goodies such as condoms and lubricants, escalating to the verge of being risqué with BDSM related and kink-specific paraphernalia.
Starkly contrasting to the vast amounts of openly sexual sales going on around the room, off to one side of the hall were tables for the buffet. And at the far end of the hall were demonstration areas, dressing rooms and more things that were new compared to the event last year.
They had been attending this event for queer and kinky folk together for six years, the excitement never diminishing even once. It was the perfect place to explore, learn, have fun, make purchases or- perhaps most importantly- make business connections and spread names around.
Devon and Quinn looked down at their lover who was visibly trembling from restraining themself.
"Where do you want to go first, Princess?" Devon asked.
Jesse immediately pointed to the table dedicated to Petplay, arrays of realistic ears, tails and harnesses set out on pretty cushions. "They've got ears that match my hair!".
Quinn barely suppressed a groan. "Love, you already have pink ears. Four pairs'' he pointed out.
"Yeah, but not this shade; the ones at home are bubble-gum or coral pinks, this is pastel peach" Jesse rolled his eyes and tugged on a strand of his pink fluffy mullet. They may have had a slight problem of dyeing their hair every few months, simply out of boredom.
"Do you want to go alone or...?" Devon asked. Jesse thought for a moment before seeing another 'pet' they often saw met with at events like these, and decided to go with them. Devon handed over some money alongside a warning, "Alright, just make sure you don't go too far- we don't need a repeat of last year".
No, they certainly did not, and Jesse had no plans to almost get petnapped by a lurking creeper again either. It hadn't exactly been the best time of their life, having someone attempt at pushing him into their car. So, in the name of safety, the older men also gave the fox-eared lover a rough time and place to meet them, just to make it easier to find the bundle of energy later in the evening.
Once the youngest of the three had skipped over to his friend and dragged them to the table crowded with pets and masters/mistresses, the eldest turned to his husband.
"Anything you want to buy, love?" Devon smiled at the man who was almost literally a giant, towering over almost everyone around them. He often wondered if tiny Jesse would get neck issues constantly looking up at them both.
"No, I'm fine just looking around," Quinn answered, lips twitching up at the corners ever so softly. But it was so easy to see how his eyes had lingered on the stall for Caregivers and Little's, how he watched the Daddies and their precious ones bond over their desires to provide and receive comfort, companionship and safety.
It did bother Devon that in Jesse he had found a pet that fulfilled that dominant part of him, and Quinn was left not completely satisfied. He knew Quinn loved the pink-haired fireball just as much as he did- without a doubt- but it was in the moments where the man got a look of longing in his honey brown eyes...
"Stop looking like a sourpuss, I'm fine. You're going to get premature wrinkles" Quinn scolded playfully, flicking Devon's forehead.
"I know you're fine, Q. But you can't tell me you don't crave that" he rebutted, nodding towards the stall again.
A man around he and Quinn's age stood hand in hand with a slightly younger man as they browsed the stuffed toys, colouring pencils, lullaby boxes and personalisable bedtime stories. The Little clung to his Caregiver, smiling brightly and pointing animatedly at the things he found exciting. Quinn's heart tugged at the sight, a small smile on his thick lips.
"It does look lovely. And yes, a piece of me craves it, but the larger part of me is completely stuffed full and happy with everything I have with you and Jesse. Now shut up, kiss me and stop wasting our time. We've already missed the intro entertainment".
Well, who was Devon to deny his sexy husband? They kissed, soft and sweet, then pulled apart, ready to enjoy the rest of the evening.
"Want to go look around while the fox plays for a bit? Some old friends let me know they'd be setting up stalls this year and asked us to pop by, say hello, all that polite stuff".
"Sounds good," Quinn nodded, not looking back at the stall as he took his husband's hand, making their way through the crowd.
