The lovely man covered his mouth to shield the giggle threatening to burst free. Peering around the corner of the wall, his eyes crinkled gleefully watching as two lovers continued searching for the missing lad.

Quinn threw his hands in the air, visibly huffing as Jesse came to the golden-eyed man's side.

"Where the fuck did he go?" The little fox asked, baffled.

"No clue. He moves scarily fast for someone on crutches... c'mon, let's go look in the staff room. You know the nurses adore him enough to let him sneak away in there with them".

And so, off the two went on their merry way. In the completely wrong direction.

Heh. Fooled 'em.

"You look awfully pleased to be sneaking around for someone who is supposed to be in their bed" a voice said behind him, making Briar's arms flinch and the crutches start to go off balance. Thankfully, Devon caught him around the waist and aided in stabilising the man who resembled a jittery new-born faun.

"D-D-Dev!" he managed to gasp. The dominant man's lovely blue eyes came into view as he turned Briar to face him, a small smile on his gorgeous face.

Since Briar's massive improvements in both physical and speech therapy, everyone had begun to smile a lot more. Seeing the light in his lovers' faces when he managed to say their names made all of the struggling and days Briar felt like giving up, worth it.

The boy wasn't sure if it was some divine miracle that his body seemed to be mending rapidly, or all down to the expert care he was receiving and his own efforts, but he spent every day in gratitude.

"Sorry, didn't mean to scare you" Dev chuckled a little before collecting himself, "I'm actually glad to catch you alone for a minute. We need to talk, but maybe we should go sit in the courtyard first. You aren't supposed to stay on your feet this long".

Briar nodded and started following his master to the elevator, where they took it down to the ground floor and began the slow journey outside. His right arm was almost fully restored to its original state, able to support his weight on the crutches. And his leg, although not able to support him unaided for more than a few minutes, was drastically better than before. For once, he actually had sensation in every part of his body!

"F-F-Fuck!" he grunted as his right big toe caught on the bench as he tried to sit down. Yes, the sensation was back in his right side, but it didn't always feel like such a blessing when he continued to accidentally scratch or bang his body on the daily.

"Careful, Pancake. It's a good thing you were this clumsy before- always falling up and down the stairs and such- otherwise I'd have worried this was another side effect".

Briar giggled a little, knowing those words to be true. His nurses were constantly baffled by his natural clumsiness, as well as the fact that his tootsies hadn't been broken yet. Though, the way he was going- body almost magnetised to all furniture- that could change any moment.

The two men sat for a while in comfortable silence, holding hands and enjoying the pretty collection of wildflowers in the courtyard. Briar's favourite thing to look at though was the small circular fountain, the water lovely and clear. Soothing. But soon enough, the two lovers had to get down to business.

"So, any news?" The boy asked, going back to using the tablet his master retrieved from his satchel. As much as Briar enjoyed talking when possible, he still wasn't conversational yet.

"Yes," Devon nodded, "Dusty has been on Harlow's ass like a haemorrhoid. The dickhead has been keeping a low profile and so far, seems to still be sticking to your agreement. Though, he has been caught using fake names in two different casinos in the last month".
