I walk into the uswnt conference room and everyones eyes snap to me as I sit down at the back next to someone I don't know but I ignore them as the new head coaches Lauren Holiday and Carli Lloyd stand at the front and everyone goes silent
"alright 2 things, first is we have 3 games to play against Belgium at the end of camp but its an away game , Sweden and Canada which are both at home or well they are here actually so its not a lot of moving around. second thing is the rookie, Koa come up here" Holiday says and I get up and go to the front "introduce yourself" she tells me before going off to the side
"um okay, my name is Koa Koen Marie, I'm 26. I play for the Belgium club Anderlecht and I'm 6'5" I say then remember something "oh and I'm the most carded and fouled player in the whole of Belgium"
"rookie you single because if you are then damnnnnn" Kelley says making everyone but me laugh but I smile
"no I'm not single, I'm happily married and have been for 2 years" I say with a wide smile as I think about my wife
"damn they must be amazing if your smiling like that newbie" Ash says making me chuckle and I blush slightly looking away making them all laugh again
"anyway with cat out with an injury Koa will be a fill in but the only games she will not play in are the ones I've decided" Lloyd says and she gives me a look and I know its the Belgium ones "okay room assignments"
she reads them off and people start to disappear "Koen and Naeher" we look at each other and grab our bags before leaving. we head to our room but we walk in to see it only has one bed making alyssa laugh but I message my wife about whats wrong with the room
"don't unpack, we have a different room" I say and open the door to see 2 members of hotel staff walking to our room and they grab our bags before leading us to the top floor of the hotel they put our new key card into the slot in the elevator and the doors open to show the whole top floor as ours
they hand us 2 keys then puts our bags in the sitting room before leaving. alyssa looks around in awe then looks at me confused but intrigued "how?" she asks
"I text my wife about the room and she said she would get us a new one and speak to coach" I say as I walk into one of the bedrooms and shut the door before calling my wife

K- Hey baby, thank you for sorting that out for me
E- no problem my love, you must be very tired please try and sleep and I will phone you later
K- okay baby, I will have a nap and call you once I wake up my love
E- I will wait for your call, now sleep
K- okay goodbye my love
E- goodbye baby
I end the call then take my shirt and shoes off and fall asleep
I wake up from my 2 hour nap then the door is knocked so I put my shirt on and I open it to Alyssa "we have to do down for dinner then team bonding afterwards" she says and I nod wiping my eyes and grabbing my shoes before grabbing my phone, key and wallet before following Alyssa to the food hall
"there you two are" Becky says looking at us confused "I went to your room but you weren't there" she says worriedly and I follow Alyssa to the table with the older players on
"there was only one bed so Koa messaged her wife and now we have the whole top floor to ourselves" once Alyssa says that I remember that I have to call my wife "Alyssa your a life saver" I say as I pull out my phone and call my wife
K- Hey my love. I have remembered to call you. I deserve an award
E- Hey baby. I can think of an award you can have when you come to Belgium
I go speechless and most of the team look confused but Ali is smirking at me making me blush
K- um I- babe, wow
E- baby my father is calling. I will check on you later. don't do anything I wouldn't do
K- so I could do anything?
E- goodbye my love
K- goodbye my sweetheart
once we end the call Ali whispers to Ash who laughs then yells "the rookie is gonna get some from her wife" all the trouble makers cheer and the responsible ones slap their heads making me chuckle but blush
"okay okay lets eat before teasing the newbie" Tobin says making me chuckle and get up to go get some food I sigh when I don't see 2 of my favourite foods. I grab a chicken salad and a water before sitting down with a pout making most of the table look at me in concern
"whats up kid?" Alex asks worried
"I- its stupid" I say but Alex puts her hand on my shoulder "I just miss my wife and Belgium"
Alex wraps me into a hug and I hide my face into her shoulder as a few tear slip from my eyes but I just sniff and I feel worried eyes on me
"Koa you okay?" Christen asks putting a hand on my back
"yeah dude you okay?" Tobin asks putting a hand on my shoulder
"shes missing her wife and missing Belgium" Alex says and one of the 2 hums then I hear them move away and move off the table
I finish my dinner then we all go to Becky and Mals room for team bonding but before we get there Alex, Christen and Tobin ask if everyone wants to do it in mine and Alyssa's room for more space so we agree and half the team go with me in one elevator and the other half goes with alyssa in the other one
we get to the top and put my key in making the doors open and everyone looks around in awe but we walk into the sitting room where I see 2 people which I'm confused
"Alexander, Alexandro???? why are you here?" I ask high fiving them
"there here with me" I hear a voice and see my wife walking towards me making me smile wide I jog to her and wrap her up in my arms and put my face in her neck and kiss it making Alexandro clear his throat making me put a finger up to him
I hear a few chuckles so I pull away and hold my wife's hand and bring her over to the team "everyone this is my wife Elisabeth, Baby this is the team" I say and she giggles kissing my chin because she can't kiss my face without me leaning down
"I'm Alex and these are my girlfriends Tobin and Christen" Alex says putting a hand out for my wife to shake and she does
"I'm Elisa, Koa's wife" she then turns to me "is the room okay or do you want a different one?" she asks worried straightening out my shirt then brushing my short hair back
"its perfect baby, is your father coming to watch the game against Belgium?" I ask looking down at her
"my father is angry at you and he's been saying 'she joined and fought in the Belgian army but decides to join the americans. why did I let my daughter marry her?' since you told us about coming out here" I chuckle and she laughs hiding her face In my upper torso trying to hide away from the team smiling at us "surprisingly he still loves you" she says and I chuckle
"I love that old man as well" I laugh throwing my head back and Elisa giggles
"you were in the army?" ash asks confused
"yeah I've lived in Belgium since I was 7 and my parents were Belgian so when I was 17 I joined the army and 3 years later I met Elisa in the same place and we got married 2 years later" I say giving them a little background of how we met and what we did before
before I know it they have all left and I'm lying with my wife and falling into a deep slumber
