You had been roommates with Kevin for
about 2 months now, and it was finally starting to feel like home. You'd decorated your room with all your favorite things, set up your gaming desk with lots of lights and figures, and decided tonight would be a perfect night for you to return from your streaming hiatus. You sat up in your comfy bed, thinking of how excited you were to return.

You'd told your followers that you would be taking a few weeks off to move, getting settled with a new roommate (that being Kevin) and making your stream set-up even better than before. You'd recorded some YouTube videos to upload during the move so your absence wasn't as noticeable. Kevin was well known in the community, since you had some of the same fans. None of them knew that he was your new roommate, though.

You knew of Kevin through YouTube and met him in person a few years ago at a convention and had been good friends ever since. You both ended up needing a roommate at the perfect time and decided to move in together. Since you both had the same type of job, making videos and streaming, it was an obvious choice to live together. It was like your own little streamer house with just the two of you. You secretly hoped this would lead to more joint streams with him. You enjoyed his company and he always made you laugh like no one else.

During these first few months you'd lived with Kevin he'd basically been the perfect roommate. He cleaned up after himself, he respected your personal space, and he even made dinner for you both pretty often. You'd not expected this but really liked when he cooked for you, he was actually pretty good at it. During these dinners you got to talk with Kevin and you'd grown a lot closer with him because of it.

You sat in your bed thinking about last night at dinner, when Kevin had made your favorite.

"Hey (y/n), dinners ready!" You had heard Kevin call from the other room. You'd been sitting on the floor in your small living room, trying to finish building a small side table you'd bought to put next to the couch. You liked to decorate your space and make it feel cozy. Kevin and you had no trouble agreeing on furniture and decor, he went along with whatever you wanted.

"Coming!" You replied, propping up the finished table and eyeing it triumphantly. Walking into the kitchen you instantly smelled something delicious.

"Wow, that looks amazing." You breathed, mesmerizing by the sight of your favorite food displayed before you. You took your usual seat at the kitchen table.

"Thanks, I hope I made it right." Kevin winked at you, "This isn't one I make too often." Smiling, he sat down across the small table from you. "Let me know how you like it."

The house you shared was no mansion, but it was perfect for just the two of you. Enough space for both of your things, but you did find yourself in close proximity to Kevin often, especially when you helped him cook in the tiny kitchen.

As you sat at the table, eating one of your favorite meals prepared specially for you by the man sitting across from you, the man you lived with in this small cozy apartment, the one you spent the last month with talking almost every night, you caught yourself thinking about how Kevin felt less like a roommate, and more like a partner.

This realization made your heart pound, and you quickly pushed those thoughts out of your head. What the hell was that about? Kevin was your friend. Sure he was handsome and sweet, but you were just friends. You ate your food silently.

"Well? How is it? You haven't said anything. Does that mean I fecked it up?" He laughed, but also eyed you suspiciously.

"No! No... not at all Kevin. You did an amazing job, it's delicious." You smiled at him shyly, looking away, embarrassed by your earlier train of thought.

When you looked back at Kevin his face was smug. "I knew I was an awesome chef, I'm good at everything." You knew he was just joking, but you couldn't help but see the truth in that statement. He really was a great person.

You snapped back to reality, you were still in your bed. Remembering the way you felt last night made your stomach turn. You'd never thought of Kevin in that way before. You decided to try and forget about it, it wasn't a big deal. You got up, making the short journey to your bathroom, located across the hall from your room, with clothes in hand. You and Kevin each had your own bathroom, yours being across the hall and his being attached to his room.

Once you were dressed you made your way into the living room. It was late morning and you found Kevin sitting on the couch on his phone.

"Morning (y/n)." Kevin yawned, not looking up from his phone. Was he texting someone? You felt curious but didn't want to pry. You went to the kitchen to make some breakfast.

The day went by quickly as you did a few things around the house, mostly laundry. You walked back into the living room to find Kevin flipping through Netflix, no doubt researching for another tv show reaction video on his channel. You sat down next to him and decided to take advantage of his company and do some work on your laptop at the same time.

After a while you heard Kevin say your name, you peaked over at him.

"Hey (y/n), I'm gonna go out tonight with a group of friends, hit some pubs. You wanna join?" He said casually.

You mentally cursed yourself for already posting online that tonight would be your return to streaming. You couldn't let your fans down, no matter how much you wished you could join Kevin. You knew you'd have a lot of fun with him.

"Sorry Kevin, I'm streaming tonight. Next time, though." You smiled at him, hiding the hint of sadness inside. He nodded.

"Oh right, it's been a while, huh? I'm sure everyone will be glad you're back. If they haven't already come over to the Kevin side." He winked at you, and you blushed slightly.

"You wish!" You teased, pushing him lightly. "My fans would never betray me like that!" But you knew your audience well enough to know they liked Kevin as much as you did. How could they not? You went back to work while Kevin continued watching tv. You made a mental note that you would definitely go out with Kevin sometime in the future.
